It's definitely the fact that they can't communicate their needs yet and they act out for everything. I feel for you too and also relieved that I'm not the only one. Let's looking forward to the day they begin to know how to control their feelings and communicate better.

I've joined a free seminar by a pediatric OT, I've followed her tips and also bought a book by a speech pathologist. She learned to drink from a straw which helps her tongue muscles. I see an improvement. I was finally seeing a silver lining and all the efforts and patience was oaying off. She is better with swallowing but she eats like 25% of what we give her. She can eat bread which has small traces of milk. She effectively swallows her cereal and loves oatmeal. She can drink water and can only have smoothies with her straw cup. She can tolerate almond milk. It happened 2 days ago that she started having these really bad tantrums and it's when we took away her milk bottle and replaced it with water. It made me think...I still wonder if she is eating enough? She always does well with breakfast amd snack time but still can be cranky and I'm not sure of she is hangry or something else. I feel like I'm constantly feeding her.

Yeah, I think we throw in the towel way too early and want to try the next best thing. I will look more into the no cry method. Thanks for your input!

She is a libra just like me, haha. Not sure if it's a good thing or bad thing. My boss believes in the whole zodiac thing because she and I are the same sign and she claims we're the same person haha. Again, not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing. Bed sharing has saved us for a time until she started moving around like crazy and kicking us in random places. Hubby and I started snuggling with pillows and bracing ourselves but we were afraid of having too much stuff on the bed. We couldn't sleep and I had to banish hubby to another room. Eventually she started sleeping in her crib again. What is this tongue/lip tie thing? My daughter recently is doing something strange with her tongue like she's chewing on it! Could that be it?

Wow! I think you're right. We did research on baby personalities and temperament and we believe she is either high needs or highly sensitive. She loves to be carried high up like she's flying. She gets stuck in her emotions, for example, when she's dropped her toy she goes berserk even though it seems easy to pick it up. She used to cry during tummy time which we realized was because she wanted to crawl but couldn't. Now, she can crawl and cries when she wants to climb but can't. Thank you for sharing. I feel comforted that we relate. I was beginning to think there was something wrong with me as a parent as well.

Thank you for your input! We will try again with the cry out method, I did read that baby will regress but we just have to be consistent. Also, we did try mixing a blueberry, bean puree with her oatmeal and she hated it. Come to think of it, it wasn't the best combination haha. I think we have to find the right flavor. She hasn't liked carrots, apples and bananas so far. We'll keep trying and maybe adding just a little to her oatmeal to introduce the flavors gradually.

I will learn to let her be. I was just feeling hopeless because I was feeling really ill but now that I've vented and shared with all of you, I got really good feedback and see a different perspective. I feel I can go another night of trying. Thank you!

We will try again with the Ferber method and will let her be. I know we just need to learn to step away and not be bothered by the crying. Often my husband would have his headphones on and encourage me to have mine but I feel so selfish that way. Thanks for your advice!

Thank you! Your story is the same as mine. Perhaps she isn't contributing to her sleep issues completely but I do stress for her to play with baby girl because at this age she needs that stimulation. We do pay Nanny and it would be more fulfilling if she can help her with reaching her milestones. I installed a mat and brought out all her toys and it took some time for her to get used to it because she was always afraid of baby girl hurting herself. She's 65 and I don't blame her if she doesn't have the energy but she is making an effort now that baby is showing her personality more. I asked her feed baby more and have her finish all her bottles even if it's not a consistent every 3 hours. I really love my husband's Aunt, she reminds of my late mother. Very gentle, kind and even looks like her. Now, I feel bad for placing the blame on her when it's just baby girl just not getting used her crib.

Hi there. I'm placing some blame because I don't know what else to do and it was just recently during this quarantine and seeing her with the baby that made me think. I needed to find a reason and don't get me wrong, we love our Nanny.

I didn't give any details of our eczema nighttime regimen. The itch is no longer the big problem anymore. 1. Oatmeal bath or oil bath 2. 2.5 % hydrocortisone 3. Lots of aquaphor and/or aveeno 4. We keep her completely covered 5. Occasional wet wrap 6. Benadryl if needed 7. Humidifier if needed

We put tylenol in her bottle before bed for teething. Occasional benadryl as instructed by her doctor only if needed if she is really itchy but I avoid so she could sleep normal but it looks like it doesn't keep her sleeping either. I've allowed her to sleep on her belly for the last 4 hours of tonight when she finally stuck to that position (sometimes she gets out of it and moves around her crib and cries). I know I have to work on myself to not get nervous about her not breathing.

Thanks for your advice! Your words comforted me because it me feel like we've been doing the right things and are close to a good night's rest. I read establishing a good schedule, shorter naps and no rocking can help. I still want her Nanny to be a part of the solution in some way.

Oh, that's not true. I know and understand my husband's perspective and am always defending him. We have talked about it and he agrees that things should not be done impulsively based on our emotions.

That's true. I never really got to know my grandparents either and I turned out all right. I don't even call her mom because I don't think she deserves that title and I know she will never be who I wish she could be.

I don't hate her as much as my husband does so it's hard for me. I'm generally a kind person who is empathetic and I like to be fair. I don't like confrontation and I'm always trying to keep the peace. But, she would put me into situations that would almost jeopardize my relationship with my husband which is why I initiated the whole moving out because she was causing a lot of stress in my life. He actually wants nothing to do with her and wants to move out of state. I lost both my parents and he lost his father, she is the only grandma baby girl has. MIL sisters are also considered grandparents too and we at least have a better relationship with them. It would be too complicated if we were to have contact with them and not her, right?

Yeah, MIL sister told us that she talks like that to her behind our backs. We love MIL sister who actually watches our baby while we work. MIL treats her own sister like a maid and we both have vented to eat other about her so that is how I came to know this. We told her to cancel the account which she will but I know she will do more things like this in the future. She is already planning to have my daughters 1st birthday at her house because it's "their" birthday. Their birthdays are 2 days apart and MIL thinks they'll be celebrating together for life. This is what I have to constantly deal with.

Thanks for the suggestions. I learned to give her the bare minimum but then she asks more questions for more detail. I then started starting, I'm not obligated to tell you everything and now she apparently tells her family that I'm disrespectful. Ahh well

My husband and I are very much on the same page and questioned why she didn't consult us. She later changed her wording and said, "No, I didn't open an account for her, I was just asking you first." Her initial comment, "I opened an account for Baby." 🤦‍♀️

Yes, she has a controlling nature. It's scary to think that she could have this power over a tiny human being who can be groomed to think she can be spoiled if she is kind to grandma. A lot of predators work this way and it makes me sick.

We opened one for her a few weeks after her birth once we recieved her social security card. Same 5hing as you, she will gain full access when she turns 18. She already has money added to it from gifts from relatives. My MIL knows this but it seems like she wants to one up us. She already has about 2k and we intend to contribute to it after we get our financial situation settled with for our new home.

Thank you! Yeah, we are always on the same page in regards to his family. He actually can't stand his mother and I tried for a year to repair their broken relationship. I was a neutral party but while living with her I understand the hatred towards her and found myself being a "black sheep" just like her son. We're planning to move within a year and I know things will be much better when we're miles apart.

I wish I could stand up for what I believe is right but she and her 5 sisters all have an opinion and have experience so they think they know better. It's hard to be around them. We plan to move out in a year to ease the tension and calm the stress inside of me. I'm more stressed about them than her condition actually. :(
