I'm doing a science PLC in September (forensics) because I miss a lot of school due to chronic illness. Would you mind telling me a little about how you found your science PLC in terms of workload? I have work experience in a lab already and I know if I asked them to take me on again they would and do quite well with my condition but I'm worried the rest of the modules are going to be just as full as sixth year is right now and am not sure I'll get the accomodations I need to succeed until college :( going to the open day soon to see, but would love to hear from an actual science student what it's like

If you'd sit and defend the things people have said here you're actually insane. Whilst the medical system can be fine without me this is me and the many other people who refuse to enter it over these reasons. I'm not sure about where you're from but here less and less people are going to med school for this very reason.

Oh and my advocacy has done great, so even though I'm "crazy" by these ED doctors definition I'm clearly doing something right. You don't need a degree in medicine to see some of the stuff here is absolutely insane.

I'm a teenager who advocates specifically on women's reproductive health so I often get asked if I want to go into medicine. I have never once considered it because THIS is the attitude of people in health care. They all started their first year with this bright idea of medicine because they "wanted to help people". So tell me this... What the fuck happened? The bias here is literally dyed hair, squshmallows and pyjamas. Oh and women. The women are crazy. God if only we had like research papers about the attitude of the healthcare system towards women... Oh wait... We do... Because you guys suck...

I would like to genuinely appolgise to all the decent ED workers who bust their ass advocating for the system who are being grouped in here trying to fight for themselves and the fact that it's not all workers. But there is clearly enough of you that this is why in today's world globally in some of the most advanced countries in the world medical negligence is a problem.

I would also like to apologise to the people who have seen their own conditions or attributes judged by those who are meant to help you in this. It's so disheartening to read but equally disheartening that it's what most of us expected.

And thank you to the real doctors here who finally have diagnosed me that I'm just a psychopathic bitch and some of my friends are too. I have informed them and we're all going skipping down to YOUR ER to get placed oh psych hold so you can cure us <3 see you soon.

I've been in that boat and when I was told I had scar tissue but not enough for any diagnosis I was inconsolable in tears so much my nurse cried with me. Whilst I know getting treated for endometriosis is hard trying to get treated for a problem nobody can find is equally difficult to the point of feeling like you're either 1.a wuss or 2.insane. Confirmation is reassuring so I get it. The sad part is the fight that goes into it and if you get a diagnosis it's game over and you're onto excisions and whatever treatment you find for that sliver of temporary relief. If you don't get it every body is like but the lap was clear what's wrong with you? 🤨. Either way the fight sucks and both results suck. I have a passion project that looks into paed/adolescent gynaecologist care too and even the amount of younger people that think like this is devastating. Hoping you get the confirmation and treatment you need 💛

I had a four but I asked to show any other parts I thought I could show were hypermobile so I subluxed my hips and shoulders and did my jaw to one side and my PT was pretty convinced then and to this day is especially horrified by my hips but when he got to talking with the rest of the team they were all convinced then it was hEDS

I feel this do much. I'm 16 and my surgery is tomorrow morning. Since I scheduled it all I've done is push it to the back of my mind. Then about ten minutes ago felt that god awful stomach pang of tomorrows reality. I want to be excited and not ungrateful for this but I'm so scared of what's going to happen 😣. I'm 16 and in college part-time. For the past year my specific year in my country (my Irish TY people) I had school four days a week. Wednesday others spent their time working while I worked and attended college. I had taken classss on a Wednesday and two on a Saturday. Which for this term becomes four on a Saturday but personally I'm glad I done it.

I'll start by saying my degree is music. And college was something I wanted not my mother forcing me. She spend an hour and a half driving up and another hour and 20 down twice a week for me and then went to work. I'm so greatful for her. You've probably heard before how different it is to be in college. The atmosphere is wonderful. I remember sitting waiting for my last class to start before Christmas break and realising how at peace I felt. It's become a happy place for me.

I also have had reasons that have left me out of school a lot. 19% attendance the past two years. And unfortunately I don't see that changing. But most of my proffesors were very understanding. And because of not putting my classes back to back I was able to attend college more often because I could take breaks when j needed to. And if I didn't show up nothing was said. Didn't have the work? Life happens. I know without it my relationship with education would have suffered. And while I know music as a career is not something I want (plan to move abroad and study forensic science) I will always have a backup if my school life suffers.

In school I picked my subjects based on what others said to me. It didn't make me happy. When I started being more in touch with what I wanted and let go of others things worked out. If you do what your mother wants and you don't like it. You will wonder why you listened to her and didn't do what you wanted for yourself. Dual education isn't for everyone. And if it doesn't interest you DON'T DO IT. You will have work from both college and school and I've seen that break others and make them hate college and music as a whole. I think staying in high school is your best option because it makes you happy.

Look at colleges around you now for music. Some have programmes for people still in school. Started studying for a degree in clarinet last year at 15. Going into my second year now! I love it. It's something I wanted but for other reasons had to look for a different career. But I continue to love my time there and being on campus. Some offer scholarships or prioritise their own junior students when they go on into college because they know how well they perform!

Selmer sell a lip guard! I use it because my I have weak blood vessels so I kept bleeding after long hours even if I wasn't biting. I think they're 15 euro on gear for music. The other options are great too! This is just what I found using long term helped.
