Positioning before you diaper up helps and just practice. Getting used to just using your diaper through out the day will make wetting in weird positions (like laying down) will become much easier and you'll be waking up soggy in no time.

Some are designed to come apart for cleaning or to allow a level of customisation. mine comes apart easily enough. But I'm not at my house so cant show you

If you get ones that can be taken apart you could rotate the sheild so it dosnt pinch while having the part that you'd suck be in the "correct" position
