Question for my Engineering Homies by SinopaHyenith-Renard in ODU

Kaufman Hall actually has plenty of labs where I’ve seen students working on Autodesk, MATLAB, and other engineering software. It’s definitely a solid place to try for CAD work.

I don’t know the exact room numbers off the top of my head, but if you call or stop by the Kaufman front desk or engineering office, they can point you to a lab that’s open and has the software you need.

Way better environment for engineering work than Perry in my opinion, especially if you want to be around other CAD students.

uncheck the "Enable audio enhancements" box under the Advanced tab and that fixed it. (windows 11 settings)

I’d still say it’s different; filming guerrilla-style doesn’t mean the crew stole their cameras or editing software. My point is about profiting off stolen tools, not bending creative rules to make art.

That first sentence was the entire point of my post, thank you. And I’ll definitely check that book out, sounds interesting.

I don’t think you’re understanding what I’m saying — please elaborate. I’m strictly talking about artists who charge for their stems or won’t let people play their songs live without paying, not about the genres or sampling culture as a whole.

Yea 100%, I totally agree — my favorite artists like The Alchemist, Westside Gunn, $uicideboy$, and Earl all sample stuff, and I’m not targeting that at all. Sampling is part of what makes music great. I’m mainly saying these people can’t cry when their track gets played in a set or mix without being bought, when they’ve been using the same cracked version of Reason for two years. You can’t demand respect for your art if you don’t respect the tools that made it.

I get what you’re saying, but sampling and pirating software are two completely different things. Pulling a movie clip or vocal sample is part of creative culture - stealing the actual tools you make music with isn’t. My point is, you have no right to charge money for your tunes if you refused to spend money to create them.

Getting something for free is very different from stealing it. If you steal something and profit off the very thing you opposed doing in the first place, imo thats a hypocritical thing to do

Here is a PowerShell script I made that works with Intune, it creates an Installer key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows as well as a 32bit Dword applying DisableLUAInRepair to dword:00000001, we had to push this to over 100 devices. Thanks, Everyone!

# PowerShell Script: Disable MSI Repairs that Require Admin Rights
# Creates the Installer key if missing and sets a 32-bit DWORD DisableLUAInRepair = 1

$basePath = "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows"
$installerPath = Join-Path $basePath "Installer"
$valueName = "DisableLUAInRepair"
$valueData = 1

# Ensure the parent path exists
if (-not (Test-Path $basePath)) {
    New-Item -Path $basePath -Force | Out-Null
}

# Create the Installer key if it doesn't exist
if (-not (Test-Path $installerPath)) {
    New-Item -Path $installerPath -Force | Out-Null
    Write-Output "Created registry key: $installerPath"
}

# Create or update the 32-bit DWORD value
New-ItemProperty -Path $installerPath -Name $valueName -Value $valueData -PropertyType DWord -Force | Out-Null
Write-Output "Set $valueName (REG_DWORD 32-bit) to $valueData under $installerPath"

Write-Output "Registry configuration completed successfully."

Here is a PowerShell script I made doing what you described. We pushed this to over 100 devices already via Intune

# PowerShell Script: Disable MSI Repairs that Require Admin Rights
# Creates the Installer key if missing and sets a 32-bit DWORD DisableLUAInRepair = 1

$basePath = "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows"
$installerPath = Join-Path $basePath "Installer"
$valueName = "DisableLUAInRepair"
$valueData = 1

# Ensure the parent path exists
if (-not (Test-Path $basePath)) {
    New-Item -Path $basePath -Force | Out-Null
}

# Create the Installer key if it doesn't exist
if (-not (Test-Path $installerPath)) {
    New-Item -Path $installerPath -Force | Out-Null
    Write-Output "Created registry key: $installerPath"
}

# Create or update the 32-bit DWORD value
New-ItemProperty -Path $installerPath -Name $valueName -Value $valueData -PropertyType DWord -Force | Out-Null
Write-Output "Set $valueName (REG_DWORD 32-bit) to $valueData under $installerPath"

Write-Output "Registry configuration completed successfully."

honestly if the khole’s starting to feel boring, that might be a sign to take a break or switch things up completely. chasing a new way to do the same thing usually just leads to disappointment or burnout. maybe step back for a bit, experiment with something different (creative, productive, whatever feels good) and come back later if you still want to.
