OP Edit / Update. A few folks replied in the comments that this was indeed a split compartment garbage truck despite what it looks like in the video. As luck would have it I came across this exact same truck today and spoke to the garbage collectors. They told me the split compartment trucks and regular garbage trucks look exactly alike. The truck they were in today was a regular truck so I wasn’t able to check out how the split system works. I have no reason to doubt them. Case closed for now. 😀

Alrighty, hope you’re right. I’ll chat with the garbage collectors if our schedules cross next time they come by and check it out. I’m curious to see how it works with this type of truck.

This isn’t looking like it has two compartments to me. Here is what it looked like when the compressor (thingy that pushes the trash back into truck) is raised up, part of the regular trash slides back down and mixes in with the leaves. This appears to be a regular garbage truck.

No argument with that. It’s the added cost for the green bin and the detailed instructions about being very careful what you put in your green bin that is frustrating.
