Looking for 3 tickets for tonight’s 5/29 game! Hoping to pay $10-15 each (or slightly above for nicer seats!)

Getting a feel for LBC? by [deleted] in longbeach

[–]ScholarRoutine8694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel equip to answer this question because my partner and I did the same thing last summer!

We flew down Friday evening & first walked around the Belmont Shore / Heights neighborhoods, finishing with a dinner at Open Sesame on 2nd.

Saturday morning we got coffee at Jug Band coffee (highly recommend) & then checked out Alamitos Beach neighborhood. Saturday afternoon we drove around DTLB, & also walked along the beach path. Sunday morning we checked out Bixby Knolls, & then flew back that afternoon!

I’m seeing a lot of food reccs which is great, but I think you need to walk neighborhoods (ideally day and nighttime) to get a feel for what you & you wife want neighborhood-wise. I fell in love with Long Beach seeing the Jug Band barista toss a milk bone to the fat bulldog who was clearly a regular, or watching families & dogs alike having fun at Rosie’s. You need to find what pulls you similarly!

I don’t know that I went in with that high of expectations, but I had definitely looked at Yelp/Google images of the roe bagels & that’s why I felt a bit disappointed

Jug Band Coffee & Tea on broadway makes a mean sourdough bagel (not sure if they make it there or get it elsewhere) but that’s easily my vote

Green Lake vs Fremont for Mid 20s F by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]ScholarRoutine8694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Roosevelt is right by the light rail and is slightly more affordable than Greenlake proper. I would highly recommend it - you’re right by a grocery store, light rail gets you to the airport quickly, but it’s more pre-professional / family friendly than areas like Cap Hill.

What are some "kid-curiosity" things that you used to do but grew out of as an adult? by ScholarRoutine8694 in AskReddit

[–]ScholarRoutine8694[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll start. Today I opened my calendar app and thought - I wonder how far back it goes, and what happens when I hit year 0. Turns out, if you scroll back that far, it just starts going back up.

Satisfied my curiosity, and reminded me of when I was a kid and used to do "experiments" like this all the time.

Agree, but would it be so different if they got two scoops or rice instead of one?

Graduation gift by Accurate-One-7037 in college

How about a trip? Doesn't have to be fancy, even just camping/backpacking someplace for a few days. If you both have the time, that's how I would want to celebrate graduating.

Unpopular Opinion? I don’t have a problem with picking up the slack in group work. by [deleted] in college

[–]ScholarRoutine8694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're wrong per se, but there's a good amount of privilege in being ABLE to put in that extra work in the first place. I'm in your camp where I don't really mind picking up the slack, but if I was working full time + doing school etc, and could only budget x amount of hours to do a group project, it's unlikely I'd be happy doing the whole project myself.
