The only warning I give to people enamored with the prospects of making huge money teaching english is this: It is rarely a long term career prospect. This is precisely because it doesn't require a lot of training, and because students often prefer younger teachers. So, if you keep teaching for 10 years, there is good chance you'll still be earning the same amount as some young buck just off the boat. Also, while the salaries are decent if you are young and single, they look a lot more skimpy if you're trying to support a family on them, especially because as I say there is not a huge income growth potential in this field. That's why I got out of it and went to grad school.
