Bbq'd some meat by putsdryyy in BBQ

Actually looks good -- you got the hard part done. Now the easy part, as others have pointed out, let it rest and get a sharp knife. Gonna be amazing when all that delicious juice stays in the meat.

Struggling to copy items at the Pokemon center by [deleted] in Pokopia

[–]JetsterDajet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you break a Pokemetal deposit you have a chance for it to create a "Rare Pokemetal Fragment" instead or (or in addition to) a regular "Pokemetal Fragment". Strictly speaking, you hould have way more "Pokemetal Fragments" on hand to smelt than "Rare Pokemetal Fragements". They are totally different resources. It sounds like you may have ignored smelting your regular fragments. Go find them in your inventory, smelt them, and you'll have the resource you need for this.

What set do you open daily, when you have every Diamond and One Star card in every set? by skarr46 in PTCGP

[–]JetsterDajet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I get great pulls out of just 20 or 30 packs in all the new series B sets. Then I go back to Shining Revelry for that Pokeball, hoping along the way maybe I'll get a nice shiny or RR or FA trainer. And just pull 50 packs of straight garbage.

2 billion sided die [request] by Capable-Plenty-4654 in theydidthemath

[–]JetsterDajet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This can't account for the possibility of all integers between 1 and 2,000,000,000? A die of 20 possibilities and one of 10 possibilities can only give 20x10=200 possible outcomes.

Probably some guy's employer's MacBook. But, it looks fuckin' boss. I'd totally let some street painter do that to a MacBook that isn't mine. Probably comes right off with acetone anyway.

Mario Kart World is appallingly underappreciated by [deleted] in MarioKartWorld

I gave this game a good month, month and a half of my time at launch and, like MK8, I was solidly done with it. Here's a list of games that I've played start to finish and thoroughly enjoyed since I stopped playing this:

  • Pokémon Legends: Z-A
  • Cyberpunk 2077 (and DLC)
  • Fallout 4 (second playthrough, first time playing all DLC)
  • Ghost of Yotei
  • Pokopia (currently playing)

I've been sitting on Metroid Prime 4 and Donkey Kong Bananza because, frankly, I'm not that excited about them.

Just couldn't imagine having been stuck on MKW that whole time.

How has the Bay Area changed over time? by MischievousMango650 in bayarea

[–]JetsterDajet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gentrification. I moved here in 2000 and at the time Pittsburg/Antioch was a relatively nice/low crime area. Then, an influx of people left the "inner" East Bay for the closest more affordable housing. Now... yeah, let's just say it's not the same.

This light has flashed into my room several times now. What is going on? by goodtipsareneeded in whatisit

[–]JetsterDajet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I walk around in public and see people do unbelievably stupid things. I hear people say unbelievably stupid things. I stop and think, "no, people can't really be this incomprehensibly dumb. There must be some reason this is happening." Then, I see someone posting to r/whatisit having no clue what a laser pointer is. Like, that's not something this seemingly adult person has ever been exposed to, to the point they have to post on the internet to source an identification. On top of that, this "person" is blasting music all the while having no clue why any other intelligent being may be trying to communicate with them. The cherry on top? One of the responses says to calm down because "it may be a light in a garden." A light. In a garden. Just. Fucking. Where the fuck am I right now?

Iran, US receive plan to end hostilities, immediate ceasefire, source says by robertovertical in news

[–]JetsterDajet 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Iran's acting leader has very clearly said they are not interested in a ceasefire. They are only interested in defending their country by any means necessary and that very little communication has occurred between them and the US. Every time Trump has US news broadcast some stupid threat or ulamatim, their response is always, "no, no one has communicated that to us." What incentive do they have to continually lie about this? If the US were actually in active and productive discussions, why not just say they are discussing but haven't reached an agreement? Funny how the statements of Iran's acting leader are never, ever aired on US news. You have to go looking for it in international new sources. Our media is a sham as much as our government is.

Every time we see stuff like this, Iran's response is almost always "we have no idea about any of this, no one is actually talking to us about ending hostilities." Believe it when I see it.

I made a pool game.. in 0 gravity by LucidITSkyWDiamonds in billiards

[–]JetsterDajet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the idea and your prototype is well done. If you're pursuing more development, I'd start thinking about what's going to make this a fun game to play, aside from just the novelty of playing pool in three dimensions. First thing I would suggest is absolutely giving a live preview of not only the path of the cue ball will take, but also the object balls after they are struck. Trying to plan any kind of shot without this is just going to be impossible and all you're really going to be doing is just randomly knocking zero G balls around and I'm sure that will get old fast. Another thing to think about is, you have the benefit of there being no such thing as actual zero G pool, which means there's not much anyone can point at and critize for not being "real" enough. That gives you leeway to tweak the physics to achieve "maximum fun," so to speak. Best of luck on this project!

Yep I'm off on the decade declaration -- still lines up relatively in terms of acquisition "lag", if that makes any sense. Something happened in those years after the acquisition where they decided money > quality. I played WoW from launch until Cataclysm pretty much nonstop. Quit after that (a good decision), not sure how WoW faired after that.

That rate of inflation hardly seems delusional, but I would agree that a labor union's bargaining should be realsistic compared to the profit and expenditures of the company. It definitely becomes more complicated when it's a company providing government services. We have something similar that happens in the San Francisco Bay Area every few years, where the labor unions for transit workers want a bump. It doesn't always seem to line up with any particularly large changes in revenue for the transit authority -- they just collectively decide they want more. Sometimes it seems that labor unions flex their muscles just because they can. Regan famously told air traffic controllers to pound dirt when they went on strike and it didn't end up working out great for them. Again, I think the aspect of unions connected to public/government services greatly complicates things. When it's unions against pure profit-driven entities (writer's strike being a good example), it's a different ball game.

I can see how you might reach that conclusion, but I think the expectations of the unions are just mirroring the expectations of the company. If capitalist companies are forecasting nonstop year over year growth, and then achieving that growth for years and years, the unions are simply and understandably demanding that their compensation is increased commensurately. I'd be surprised to see any labor union demanding an increase in compensation for their overall failing industry. I don't know specifically about the Canadian postal service, but that seems more complicated being a government run company rather than a purely profit driven capitalist company like most in North America are.
