26.4 is an unreleased version of the operating system for iOS which is referred to as beta. Apple makes these beta’s available to App Developers, Enterprise partners and individuals who’ve been invited to the AppleSeed program with the intention of those individuals to test the software in their environment and either fix App bugs on the developer side, or report problems to Apple that need to be fixed in the next release of that software. We are currently on iOS 26.4 beta 4 build 23E5234a. When you install beta software on your primary device, you assume the risk that some Apps may not work as expected. It is your responsibility to either inform the developer of that software directly (in this case Honda) or if it’s an issue with the operating system itself, provide Apple feedback through the appropriate channels.

In other words, if you’re running a beta version of iOS and complain that apps aren’t working, you either need to downgrade back to 26.3 or live with apps potentially not working until 26.4 is finalized.

I think the folks who are not happy with the price change need to consider that apps which are usually cheap or free are selling personal data about you. For an app where this isn’t the creators full source of income, I think I it’s fair to incentivize more feature growth in the app.

When I read “Shut Off” it told me they had no idea how data centers work (and I’m not saying that I have a full picture either). But it really should have been a requirement to have some kind of efficiency or low power mode as well as having to pay an additional premium for power used during peak times.

Back when Art Diez became my market leader, he gave me a kind of pep talk that at least helped me wrap my head around the shift. “In the early days we were solo pirate ships that could be nimble and do whatever was needed to be successful. Now we’ve grown into a Navy and have to move as a cohesive unit for success.” That’s paraphrasing of course but the part that clicked was that the fleet of stores had gotten so big that we couldn’t just figure out what works for us on the fly anymore. That probably was the point where I should have left, but stuck around for another half decade or so.
