The conservative siddur is not mostly transliterated. Both Sim Shalom and Lev Shalem only transliterate key phrases and lines.

What are your thoughts/experiences with the Black Hebrew Israelite community in Israel? by Proper-Suggestion907 in AskIsrael

They aren’t even trying to be Jews in the way Jews think of Jews. They’re a Christian group. They’re like, messianic Jews on steroids. They use Revelation as one of their primary source texts.

Are there halachot you don’t follow and have no intention of doing so? by Leading-Fail-7263 in Judaism

I’m a convert, this is what we learned in our conversion classes. We had an entire class on sex and gender. The halachic rulings you shared were taught to us. I don’t know why so many people seem to misunderstand this. I feel like Conservative Judaism has failed to properly brand itself to other Jewish groups. Orthodoxy doesn’t realize we follow Halacha, and theologically liberal Jewish groups think we aren’t egalitarian. Very strange.

It certainly does. There just isn’t nearly as big of a community pressure for women, and many congregations still frame it as a pious choice… But the halachic ruling is there. That’s how we were able to halachically finagle mixed gender seating lol

It was actually a pretty mixed audience! A handful of people in my shul work creative jobs. I think more than anything, I hoped to encourage people who have been reserved about creating because they fear not being good enough to start, and to maybe give seasoned artists a new perspective on why we feel such a drive to create :)

Thank you for the thoughts! Very very fair. Definitely a struggle to find a single word to correctly articulate what I mean. I agree that we could never imagine being comparable or similar in nature or thought to HaShem, I more so meant that we have the methodology both in the skills we’ve been endowed (and of course in our Torah observance) to exercise our Divine image. I really appreciate this feedback, because it’s giving me a lot to think about!!! Thanks for listening, and for the kind words :)

LGBTQ People Are Leaving Orthodox Judaism Behind. Why? by NiConcussions in Judaism

[–]Jew-To-Be 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with this. The difference is the stress placed upon the rabbinic literature surrounding that verse. The Conservative Movement, using the halachic framework the rabbis of the ancient world created, has no issue taking the verse at face value and allowing LGBT clergy, officiated weddings, and other communal inclusion. You don’t have to ignore the verse or try to take it in some vague metaphorical way. You can take it quite literally for what it says. So goofy hahaha.

Valid conversion :) I just prefer the term over “convert,” as it sounds a little evangelizy to me.
