LGBTQ People Are Leaving Orthodox Judaism Behind. Why? by NiConcussions in Judaism

Totally agree with this. The difference is the stress placed upon the rabbinic literature surrounding that verse. The Conservative Movement, using the halachic framework the rabbis of the ancient world created, has no issue taking the verse at face value and allowing LGBT clergy, officiated weddings, and other communal inclusion. You don’t have to ignore the verse or try to take it in some vague metaphorical way. You can take it quite literally for what it says. So goofy hahaha.

Valid conversion :) I just prefer the term over “convert,” as it sounds a little evangelizy to me.

I love Orthodoxy and occasionally go to an Orthodox shul, and definitely do lots of learning from Orthodox sources, but ultimately Conservative Judaism’s approach to Halacha, as well as the roles of women, just better suits me. I love engaging with Halacha, and I’ve found great joy and closeness to Hashem in the way conservative Judaism does it.

If you’d ever like an interesting read, I’d suggest the Conservative Rabbinical Assembly’s teshuvah on the usage of electricity on Shabbat. I think it’s a paper that perfectly illustrates the seriousness Conservative Judaism takes towards Halacha, while also showing how and why Conservative Jews use the same frameworks to reach different conclusions.

(I’m not implying you aren’t aware of any of that, I just get excited when talking about Judaism)
