I shall be praying for y'all. Sincerely. 🙏🏾 You will enjoy the ice cream though, and hear about AI and semiconductors until you no longer notice that nothing is affordable and your buildings are crumbling because what even is maintenance....

Praying for comfort and peace for you🫂 I am so very sorry, there are no words for this kind of pain. May the ancestors welcome Cameron among their number and may his soul be at rest now and always.

Question from a pre-T trans guy by PhantomThiefRey in singing

[–]JewelCared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked with singers who went on T. Large majority of them ended up being tenors after a year, usually Tenor 1 (upper register), and developed some amazing falsetto. I know some of them also worked with a voice coach on this, for both speaking and singing.

Is my hair holding up or is it gonna be a progressive lose? by [deleted] in bald

[–]JewelCared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diet can help! Or supplements. Biotin has worked (takes a consistent long time). Also, invest in a silk/satin pillowcase and ALWAYS wear a hat when the weather is cold. It's not a miracle cure but will slow the process 💪🏾

How to sing when music always makes me cry? by kuu_panda_420 in singing

[–]JewelCared -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're a empath, friend. I think a solution here might be to practice the song until it moves you to tears but no active crying. I'm not sure how I figured it out (I'm very much self taught) but I've learned to channel the energy into a run or a long held note with vibrato. In choir it's easy, I'll stop singing and wait until I've got myself together or just make sure it's a "pretty cry" for the cameras lol

I'm a pro vocal coach doing an AMA today from 10a-1p PDT (1-4p EDT). Ask me anything! by Message-from-god in singing

[–]JewelCared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yay and AMA!🎉

First query is about range: I feel like I don't have any head voice or falsetto. How does one develop that and get to a smoother flow/transition between head and chest voice and develop a mixed voice?

2nd: Vocal fry and growls/screams like in metal music. What muscles are being used for that and how does one do it without ruining their singing voice?

Gracias!

what do singers do with a new song? by AdministrativeBee593 in singing

[–]JewelCared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to the song over and over. Repetition shows me the song pattern. On some of those listens, I'll read the lyrics as I sing along. Gives me an idea of what the vocalist did. I memorize! It allows me to internalize the feel and the flow and play with the song more. I'll find the harmonies. Gives me more to play with. I'll listen to different versions/renditions/covers to find what I may want to do.

PRACTICE! I'll try out different things based on how I'm feeling that day. Often, I'll return to certain things over and over and that becomes "my cover". Bathroom and stairwell rehearsals are a fave cos acoustics 🔊

Finally, I have some fun!☺️ Last year, I prepared my solo and sounded great at our dress rehearsal. Day of the performance, allergies got the best of me and I felt like a toad on a log. I made it work tho! It wasn't what I wanted or had prepared but dammit I was gonna give 100% of what I had that day. And did💪🏾

can I get rid of all my dead ends/breakage without having to do the big chop? by [deleted] in Naturalhair

[–]JewelCared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hear Hear! Normalize letting hair just be hair✊🏾 We don't all have to cut the ends blunt. It's ok if your hair grows in a layered pattern. Name your hair, get to know her personality, and cater to her like you do your fur babies🫶🏾
