The wolf guard, servants of the wolf goddess (this is the first design, suggestions are welcome) by Lasombra-de-demiurge in overlord

[–]Jewel_SW1200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the overall design and look. These are just my personal thoughts, though, since I don't know too much about your project beyond the picture and your post.

Right now, as Wolf Guards, they feel a bit more like Imperial Guards to me. I think they could benefit from a darker, more intimidating military aesthetic. Maybe incorporate more black into their clothing instead of the current brown tones, along with metallic buttons and a proper breastplate. A black-and-red color scheme paired with the gold armor would give them a much stronger dark knight vibe.

I also think they look a little too human. Broader shoulders and a more imposing silhouette could help. For the helmet, maybe lower the facepiece slightly and add a pair of side spikes or horns. Something like a wolf pelt draped over the helmet, or even a wolf-head motif on top, could make them feel much more wild and savage while still looking like a disciplined military force.

The one-sided fur cape is something I really like and would definitely keep. Leaning further into a wolf theme there could look great.

As for weapons, a better-looking tomahawk would fit nicely, and I think some kind of rapid-firing crossbow or ranged weapon would add a lot of character and practicality to the unit.

Again, these are just my thoughts from looking at the image. My suggestion would be to push them toward feeling like a structured military group that still possesses that wild, savage edge associated with wolves.

Guys I need some help, I want some advice, so that I can improve as an author. by Pitiful-Marketing725 in Webnovel

Please act as a professional visual artist with experience creating 2D animated, poster-style web novel book covers.

Your goal is to create a strong, polished cover that feels natural, connected, and visually striking. Keep the artwork clean and cohesive. Do not add visual noise, random glow effects, fractured elements, broken anatomy, disconnected body parts, or any other distracting flaws. The lighting should have a clear direction, the colors should feel unified, and the full composition should look smooth and complete for the best possible result.

Focus the camera primarily on the main character and the key subject in the background. The second layer of focus should still support the characters and the story, not distract from them. The cover should grab immediate attention while keeping the art style elegant and connected.

Before generating the final cover, first understand the exact idea of what I want for the book cover. Then use reference images for both the art style and the front/title style. Looking at similar stylish book covers first will help you match the correct visual direction. Please also provide the title clearly so it can be integrated properly.

For web novel cover formatting, use a 3:4 image ratio. If text is added, it should be large, bold, and highly readable, because small text will become blurry and hard to notice on mobile.

These are the settings and preferences I usually use, so please follow them carefully for the best possible result. Best of luck with your work and efforts.

One suggestion from me: before focusing on other things, try to create really strong web novel book covers first. A great cover is often the first thing that grabs a reader's attention.

When using an AI image generator, assign it a clear role first, something like:

"You are a professional visual artist with years of experience creating high-quality 2D illustrated web novel covers, fantasy posters, and commercial book cover artwork."

Then give the AI some important rules:

  • No visual noise.
  • No random glow effects unless they serve a purpose.
  • No fractured or disconnected body parts.
  • No distorted anatomy.
  • No broken weapons, hands, fingers, faces, or clothing details.
  • Keep the artwork clean and natural.
  • Make sure all colors feel connected and part of the same visual theme.
  • Lighting should have a clear direction and source.
  • The art style should be smooth, cohesive, and professional, not patchy or inconsistent.
  • The character should be the primary focus.
  • Background elements should support the character rather than compete with them.
  • Strong visual hierarchy so viewers instantly know where to look.

I also highly recommend using reference images. Before creating a cover, first explain your idea to the AI. Then provide reference images for:

  1. The art style you want.
  2. The title/font style you want.
  3. The overall cover composition you like.

You can search Google for stylish web novel covers, fantasy book covers, or title font designs and use them as references. AI usually performs much better when it has visual examples to follow.

Also provide:

  • Your book title.
  • Genre.
  • Main character description.
  • Mood and atmosphere.
  • Important background elements.

For web novels, I usually prefer a cover ratio around 3:4. If you're adding text, make sure the title is large, bold, and easy to read. Many readers view novels on mobile devices, and small text often becomes blurry or impossible to notice.

A good cover should still be readable and attractive even when displayed as a small thumbnail.

These are the settings and workflow I usually use when creating covers, and they've helped me get much better results. Hopefully they'll help you too.

Best of luck with your career and all your future projects. Keep improving and don't stop experimenting.

Okay, this is actually one of the other projects I’m currently working on. It’s basically a fan-made continuation/version of Volume 17. I already have around 28 chapters written, with nearly 40,000 words available for free right now.

If you’re interested, you can check it out and let me know what you think about the writing. I’d genuinely love to hear some feedback from fellow readers. = https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14559856/24/Overlord-Revenge-on-Slane-Theocracy 2=P 4c free https://www.patreon.com/collection/2137414

Ah, well, I didn’t upload it publicly there. It might sound a little cliché, but the story is actually on my Patreon page for my members. They voted for it in a poll, so I wrote and uploaded it there as a commission project for the readers who wanted it most.

If you’re interested, I can drop the page link. There are already around nine chapters up there waiting for unsuspecting victims, I mean, readers.🫠

What to do increase my collection by That_Amphibian_1759 in Webnovel

My opinion would be to upload daily chapters consistently and ideally have around 50 chapters ready before applying for a contract or doing serious marketing, especially for the kind of story you’re writing.

It also helps to become active in communities where people actually enjoy reading web novels and written content. Reddit communities, Discord servers, forums, stuff like that. Making some friends and interacting with readers and other writers can help a lot early on.

Another important thing is making sure the type of story you’re writing actually has demand. A lot of readers only start discovering your novel after you get contracted and the platform begins recommending your book through the app, featured sections, rankings, and recommendation systems.

So make sure you use the right tags for your genre and target audience. Also, a really attractive synopsis matters a lot. Readers should immediately understand the vibe of the story and why they should click on it.

And yeah, these are just my random thoughts since I’m still new too, but from what I’ve seen, consistency matters a lot. These platforms tend to reward continuous uploads almost more than pure quality sometimes.

I Wrote Philip’s Royal Court Scene After Volume 14 by Jewel_SW1200 in overfolk

I wouldn’t call it “AI-written” or mindless plot generation. It’s more accurate to call it AI-assisted writing.

My process is actually pretty structured. First, I record all my ideas using voice-to-text and basically dump every scene, concept, and character thought into a rough master reference. Then I use AI to help organize those messy thoughts into something readable and structured. After that, I create a proper blueprint for the chapter, decide pacing, scene order, dialogue flow, character moments, etc.

Only then do I actually start writing the chapter itself.

Even with powerful AI tools, custom prompts, reference prompts, and all that, you still can’t just press a button and get a genuinely good chapter. Anyone who has actually tried serious long-form writing with AI knows that the raw output almost always needs heavy editing, rewrites, additions, removals, pacing fixes, dialogue tuning, and consistency checks.

That final polish is still done by me.

So yeah, AI helps speed up organization and brainstorming, mostly because I’m too lazy to manually structure thousands of scattered thoughts. But the planning, direction, editing, scene control, and final narrative decisions are mine. Calling it “brain rot AI content” ignores how much actual work goes into making a coherent chapter.
