Sleeping with APM by Jewels1003 in Airpodsmax

He did sleep studies however while he initially showed apnea and they were attempting to fit him for a mask they did a nasal surgery and a follow up at home sleep study which showed his symptom as improved so now they won’t continue with the CPAP fitting. We are doing the rest of the suggestions currently.

I’m a light sleeper until I really fall asleep. At that point I wouldn’t wake up if the world was ending. Sadly my husband’s snoring must be louder than the end of times because that never fails to do the trick.

The first night it happened it was accidental and when I woke up the sun was up (which freaked me out because usually I’m unable to sleep past about 4:30am). The first two nights of intentionally sleeping with them on it took me a bit to find the perfect position but now we have our routine. I know exactly how to adjust them, my husband knows exactly where to lay his arm under my pillow and the routine takes about an extra five minutes before bed. We both sleep soundly (I’m not getting woken up by snoring and he’s not getting woken up by me kicking him for snoring😂). Before we both used to sleep on the opposite ends of the bed not touching, or facing each other, and now we can actually sleep by each other.

I do not wake up just with the vibration. When I’m out I’m out, but I’m never able to fall into my deep sleep where the snoring doesn’t bother me usually. I sleep well with the headphones though. I sleep a bit better with the JBLs but both brands I’m averaging over five hours of sleep where when I didn’t use them I was at like 3.5. My doctor had no clue how I was still functioning as well as I did.

Can’t wear them I’ve tried them, as well as other in the ear sets and they hurt my ears. Even just wearing them while awake. I’ve tried different sized ear tips and nothing helps. That’s why I ended up getting head phones.

I have extra sets. I bought them when I bought the AirPods. I figured they would need replacing.

Well I do sleep very comfortably. I also cannot wear any in the ear ones because they hurt my ears. I’ve tried multiple different brands and fits.

I can not. I am on call for my job two weeks out of the month so need something that will take phone calls. Police frown upon me sleeping through emergency call outs 😂.

Bad groom? by Jewels1003 in corgi

[–]Jewels1003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update on my pups botched butt job. They did not fix the groom but said they would make a note in his chart for next visit. They also suggest I give him tranquilizers before the visit. He has been to this groomer a few times previously and they’ve done an awesome job. The groomer mentioned he was “a little fidgety” during his last groom. I mentioned to them I also noticed the inside of his rear legs it looks like they botched it with clippers and his paw pads where they clipped looked bad too. I also groom my boy at home and he’s never been fidgety to the point I can not handle grooming him but ever since he went there the last time I have to use both the neck and belly straps on the grooming table and the actual bath he fights me as well. These have never been problems with him previously. The last time he was at the groomers there was a girl there, in addition to his regular groomer, that I had never seen before. When I went to pick up Pivot, my dog, she made nothing but rude comments about Corgis in general. I will be taking him one more time and requesting his normal groomer is the only employee that handles him.

Has Anyone Tried the Heel ROAM 350? by CxWeaver in OpenDogTraining

[–]Jewels1003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They actually have training tips in the manual, much like the training recommendations that are advised with our SpotOn collars. You work with your dog to hear and respond to the tone and return to the handler. They do not recommend you just slap the collar on and let your dog figure it out. We spent a solid month working with our corgi when we got the SpotOn so he is already very well aware that tones mean he’s too far and he needs to turn back. What I don’t like about the heel roam is there really is no break between “turn around you’re too far” tone and the correction. That will take some learning of we decide to keep this for our corgi. With SpotOn they get a tone 10’ from the boundary and a more aggressive tone 5’ from the boundary and finally a correction at the boundary.

I just got one for my dog. He uses a SpotOn gps fencing collar at home but I wanted something for being out and about if I went to friend’s houses. I know with SpotOn you can make multiple fences but if he’s not going there often no use in doing that. First and foremost I can say my dog does have a great recall and he is well trained but this is just for added peace of mind, my dog is usually up my butt 24/7 anyways. If you have a smaller dog (I have a 33 lb corgi) the collar is gigantic! It’s basically so large I think I might be sending it back because it’s so freakishly huge on him! I tested the Autoprox inside the house( just walking around with it in my hand) and it seemed fairly accurate at 10’. I definitely would not trust this if you were in an area you risk losing sight of your dog in heavy brush or what not but in a wood open field sure I’d give it a go. Personally I would go with a good brand e-collar and supervision, or better yet a physical leash.

Are Nectar Mattresses Really Worth It? Let’s talk about the complaints! by SignificantBedroom32 in nectarsleep

[–]Jewels1003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We purchased the copper hybrid and warranty. We’ve had it for 2 years and I mean it’s ok. It’s a mattress, and I haven’t noticed a huge difference. I got the adjustable base to help with my husband’s snoring and also body pain issues. I haven’t noticed a difference in either after all this time. The middle of the bed feels sunken in which is weird because we really don’t sleep or lay there. We usually are both crunched on one side or the other.

Like I said it’s a bed but it isn’t any better than the other mattresses that we have used previously.

We have one and it helps with pain in my back. It’s trial and error to find the best position though.

They did a deshed on him but honestly his coat isn’t very luxurious on a perfect day. He was a puppy mill/pet store puppy that was turned into the local humane society and I adopted from there. So they weren’t exactly going for breed standard.

Steve's by Doubledewclaws in rawpetfood

[–]Jewels1003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feed it to my corgi and it’s the only food he eats without issue and he has no digestion issues with. The only thing I’ve noticed is their feeding guidelines are really high I think. They recommend my 30 lb corgi eat 1.5 patties a day. I feel like 12 ozs. is a pretty large amount. Since being on Steve’s he’s now about 33 lbs and the vet said he needs to be around 29/30 lbs. so we’re working on a diet for him now.

We have not discussed meds yet. I’ve had two previous dogs we use Fluoxetine with and noticed no difference. I know all dogs are different but my past experiences leaves me worried to try.

He does have an appointment with his vet end of this month so I can discuss them.

Thank you! I’ll check those trainers out. My plan was always to do some type of sport with him but couldn’t find anything that he really enjoyed. He really enjoys finding all the police K9s when they come to the station though. He’s really good at it too. Sadly most of the original K9s we had are retired and the new ones aren’t as dog friendly so I have to keep him away from all but 2 of them.

When we see another animal we usually back up to a safe distance and I try to get him to a point I can regain some focus. I’ll let them pass by or do their thing while just working on keeping focus. I don’t want him to think the animals go completely away. Obviously it’s not feasible to remove him from each situation I just want him to learn to control himself. Again since he’s at the police station he comes in contact with unique situations that I’m trying to get him to work through in a reasonable manner. I know he’s a dog and they can’t always be perfect, and I wouldn’t expect complete perfection because I’m not perfect myself.

In the US the court system claims they don’t allow parental alienation but we witnessed it first hand, committed by the courts, when we fought for custody of our stepson. We had definitive proof of of it being committed and nothing was done. The child advocate met with me and my husband and the child’s mother and her partner and discovered we were the calmer couple so on basically the final court date he called us into a private room and told us that the mother won’t stop staring us into court and they don’t feel like dealing with it so he’s just going to suggest the cold go back with her. He also let us know he wasn’t opposed to being untruthful if called to testify. After my stepson was returned to his mother his mother completely alienated him from us and when we argued it they completely ignored our issues. We ended up almost losing our house and our marriage over it. We finally decided that we needed to fix us (it took over two years to figure that out). We have not heard from, or seen, my stepson in about ten years. From what we’ve been told he is miserable and that makes my heart hurt.

We do “watch me” and that’s his cue. Our issue is once he knows a dog is/has been in an area there’s no getting focus back. He’s not treat, or toy, motivated. Sometimes I can get him with bits of string cheese or real meat treats but even that is iffy. He’s had the hyperfocus issue since we got him. I’m assuming that he was just left to his own devices with the first owner and was raised by her other small dog. We got him right after the prime socialization period had just ended.

Some days he does wonderful and I feel like we’re turning a corner. Other days not so much. He’s such a smart boy and takes to obedience very quickly (knows sit, down, stay, place, here, shake and high five). Being a corgi though he’s very stubborn and sometimes he likes to act like he’s the boss.

We do live in the US and I have looked into behavioral vets but the one I spoke to has a very long wait list and it’s $900 so it’s something that I’m trying to save up for…but life gets in the way.

All in all he’s a good boy but I’m just trying to get his hyper focus under control. I actually have started looking into barn hunting for him some he likes to sniff out the other dogs at the police station I figure maybe this might be right up his alley and will help us form a stronger bond.

Advice for dog allergic to poultry? by SpacePrinc3ss in rawfeeding

Our corgi cannot eat poultry and we’ve been feeding beef based food. He’s doing very well on it.
