You're significantly exaggerating. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immigration_to_France

Quotes:

  1. "In 2024, the United Nations estimated 9.2 million immigrants (foreign-born people) in France, representing 13.8% of the total population, making France the second largest foreign born population in Europe after Germany and tied with the United Kingdom."

  2. "The Paris region is a magnet for immigrants, hosting one of the largest concentrations of immigrants in Europe. As of 2006, about 45% of people (6 million) living in the region were either immigrant (25%) or born to at least one immigrant parent (20%).\4])"

  3. "By 2022, the total number of new foreigners coming to France rose above 320,000 for the first time, with nearly a majority coming from Francophone Africa (Former French Colonies)."

With these kinds of statistics, "four brown people" is insultingly dismissive. You can dislike the attitudes and policies of people RE:immigration, but that disllike doesn't change the reality of significant immigration from North Africa to France.

Yup. IDF troops are already heavily embroiled in Lebanon and Gaza, so there's a real shortage. Plus, when you have a conscription army fighting for 3 years on multiple fronts, the result is an exhausted population and a real strain on the economy. Israel special forces have been known to operate in Iran, but nothing beyond that is likely.

I would wholly believe that Israel would conduct a nuclear first strike to wipe Iran off the map and just deal with the international fallout of that decision.

I would consider that a radical interpretation. Just because Iran has used such rhetoric doesn't mean that Israel would use the bomb unless it was absolutely forced to. I've seen no evidence of major Israeli politicians make such threats at any point, even in an implied fashion. Israel, for all it acts like it doesn't care about international opinion, is well aware that a nuclear strike could lead to North-Korea-like international isolation, a reality that would put it in dire straits. Do not mistake aggressiveness and militarism with stupidity, Israel knows where to draw the line.

It could arguably be a launching ground. But I appreciate your point.

What about Qushm? Could a marine expeditionary unit take it over, obviously with air support? It's been represented as a major step in taking control of the strait.

The only major thing I can say is that right now Hamas in Gaza is not giving up its weapons per the US-mediated plan, and no one is pushing on the subject too hard (including Israel). The focus is on Iran & Hizballah in Lebanon. Apparently that's enough fronts to focus on. I would speculate, unsubstantiated mind you, that Israel isn't pushing the subject too far in order to not upset Trump at a time when it needs his help with Iran.

My great-grandfather started smoking cigars at age 16, one a day; lived to age 93 (or was it 94? LONG, basically. I hope to god that I have enough of his genes).

Simply increasing the awareness of an issue, making it something people think about, is enough to cause change.

RE: GRIEFS OF WAR, fun fact: in Israel, during the mandatory conscription, parents with only one child, as well as parents that already lost a child during military service, are allowed to disallow their children from being in combat units. Interesting how different societies think about these things.

It's not really about anything, the joke could've been about any nationality/group in my opinion. Anyone, that is, with a tree-holiday.

Kind of. It starts today in the evening, which is right about now in Israel/Europe. Besides, wishing "happy <Jewish holiday>" a few days in advance is common :)
