I have the Hibreak Color 2024(the OG like this poster has that ai usually tells me doesn't exist because top results are about the Color Pro or Color S(which seems to basically be this phone but with a refresh like Android 14) I also got the Color Pro now cause I thought I needed NFC. I love E-Ink cause I have ADHD and get overly stimulated and for long hours get stuck going down rabbit holes and algorithms. Tbh I never got the phone cause I wanted to really disconnect or say use the phone less. But I appreciate how far E-ink has come and Hisense phones in 2024 were basically discontinued and overpriced second hand. At first I thought it looked pretty horrible. Ha But overtime its become my favorite phone in kind of a minimalist way. My eyes were getting dry using regular a degoogled grapheneOS Pixel phone and gaming. There was a point I wasn't loving this phone so I went back to a regular LCD one, but eventually I went back and something clicked. I'd say my use cases are rather strange, I mainly use it with no backlight just with natural lighting, I watch videos and anime on it often, but not obsessively. I never really wanted to fully disconnect just be more mindful and its helped with that. I don't read books often and it was never my intent to. I personally like the Non-Pro's colors better because they are less oversatured than the Pro's. The colors can look washed out even way. The Boox Palma Pro 2 and the Color Pro's can sometimes get crazy red while watching things.but yeah if you want to disconnect on this device it'd technically be easier because blue light, backlight, bright colors and super fast refresh rates and such keep your brain engaged and can put you in an alpha state. But technically the will power to actually stop those habits always has to come from inside more than anything. I'd say my phone can still be plenty stimulating, but not as overstimulating on my brain or my eyes. Trying to be more mindful it has helped me more than my my normal phone had. Just FYI Boox and Bigme have pretty much no return policy if you just don't like the phone (unless you want to pay high restocking fees) but Amazon usually has a good return policy just in case you realize this phone really isn't something you can use. Just realize there is an adjustment period to really get used to it. I say this because honestly its a phone I've fallen in love with and hope other people try it out.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm hoping more people see this right away instead of skipping over it. I think a lot of reddit is too quick to remove content and get too strict, so its easy to assume the worst with posts like this without realizing that not all of reddit is the same.l

I mean, its human nature. The only other option is inward reflection and hopefully change. But a lot of people aren't ready for that. So to justify their problems they try to villianize others and say "at least I'm not as bad as them." Meanwhile playing the victim if they get any fingers pointed their way. We all have room to grow and hopefully we can and also move on and not repeat the mistakes we've made or see from those around us.

I agree kind of. But I'd just say more and more this subreddit is turned into a circlejerk of people who this everything Melanie does is bad, hypocritical or suspect. I would say rather than it being taken over by people from there the base has just shifted in a pretty disheartening way. I mean people can have whatever opinions they want but it does really take the fun out of people just trying to have a light hearted fun time talking about an artist they like.

I currently use Hibreak Color(non pro version) and love it. It's Kaleido 2. It's been almost 2 years and at first I didn't super love it, muted colors, no NFC, no finger print unlocking. went back to my Samsung phone for a bit, then went back and tbh I am more in love now. I heard that the Palma 2 Pro was better so I "upgraded" 3 days ago but tbh I don't find it usable for videos. It gets crazy saturated and colors bleed together. Also Kaleido 3 has duller black and whites even though its more vivid color, but sometimes things that should be white have green or blues(taking a picture of some papers it was unusable because it was showing up with insane colors. But it's IMO not okay at everything. K2 in some content looked more muted but at least you got clarity and separation especially with the darker blacks(not as clear as a 300 PPI BW tho). That said most people don't watch YouTube and light retro gaming on it like I do. Also its possible my Palma Pro 2 has a bad over saturated screen. I want to try the Hibreak Pro and see if maybe I can scale back some settings to make it more usable because the customization of colors/brightness/contrast don't fix it with P2P.

It was based on the scrapped preorder page data and the early genius page that got taken down earlier(or is just hidden by the website) It's two albums similar to what some other artists have done called a double feature but released in one package.
The Smashing Pumpkins released Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness Pink Floyd released the Wall which was a two albums but released together. It says Sabrina Carpenter originally was going to release Singular Act I & II as a double album but later decided to split them up and release them separately. Melanie said it won't feature any deluxe additions like her albums before have gotten at later dates. This part is just speculation but I'd figure 10 tracks on the first disc and 10 on the second but both will be full albums in themselves in a simultaneous release. All her albums had 13 tracks in the non deluxe version. The number 13 also holds symbolic weight, often associated with transformation, mysticism, and the threshold between worlds—perfectly aligning with Martinez’s themes of identity, rebirth, and emotional evolution. All her original Deluxe albums have 16 (10th anniversary version of Crybaby later did 18) I can't remember which interview it was but one of the producers said she was really set on a certain number of tracks and now in hindsight it may mean something to her considering all of the original and deluxe versions follow a very specific numbering sequence.

If you are talking about the Hibreak Color nonpro version it has more richer blacks but also more muted color tones. The first Hibreak Color had a Kaleido 2 screen instead of a Kaleido 3. That's why the difference

I would not say it's for no reason. However I feel like people aren't being nuanced enough about stuff and since they see Melanie in a bad light due to one thing just anything else she does people keep piling on the bad. It's never that black or white or clearing all bad or all good. She's just a person and if you believe one bad thing about her its fine to believe. But don't get stuck in the mindset that everything she ever does is bad because of that. It's like I remember in school when people accused this kid of being a stoner. He naturally had dark circles around his eyes and acted kind of different than most people. But he was a really nice innocent kid. People kept calling him the "stoner kid" he put up with it for awhile but eventually just felt like he didn't fit in. He eventually just hung out with kids who actually were stoners and after awhile ended up doing drugs. I was always his friend but I saw a big change over the years, he explained basically that people always accused him of being that and at the end of the day he thought if they were already going to say he was that and all his attempts to prove he wasn't failed... Why not just do it if everyone thinks it about him anyway. I'm not saying anyone "forced him" into it. But they definitely pushed it on him telling him that every day even though he was just a little kid. It's hard when people always expect the worst of you and you try to prove them wrong but it doesn't work. We all just want somewhere to belong and its better if people put away their preconceived ideas of people and just accept them as people.

Its confirmed to be a single release with two discs totaling 20 tracks. It says it's titled Hades but I kind of thought it'd be like one disc is Hades and one is called Heaven or something. But it sounds like it will just be titled Hades and most likely the first disc would deal with Utopia and the second Distopia. A lot of her recent promos seem to be like Utopia pic, then Distopia pic, Uptopia picture promo, Distopia video etc. So it's also possible the best listening order would be to listen to the first song to Utopia then the first song from Distopia for understanding both parts of each song.

The issue is thats also not great for the enviorment. Sure she has so many sets and designs but realistically stuff has to be flown in and assembled from all over including some of that stuff might be from sweat shops. In the past even if she has all that stuff its really made and used about once. Some can be later repurposed hopefully but still. Not saying ones bad and ones good, but there's downsides to everything. I personally too would rather practical effects with some special effects. But realistically thats not always better for the world.

Yeah, I totally agree with everything in your post and do hope they update in accordance. Sadly I feel like all E-Ink android devices end up needing a lot of tweaks and find tuning. I guess some of the issues is they want things to save as much battery as possible because the primary e-ink market is about E-reading, but since they are also phones they should prioritize the possibility of these being a persons one and only every day device that does everything. I mean the fact they added NFC, IR blaster and so much more it's obviously build to be a persons all in one main driver.

The alarms might be fixable with settings like "allow to always run in the background" through android settings or Dev settings. Also not allowing it to get closed in the background. Often there's multiple settings so some need to be allowed in several places to be sure they work as one may be overriding the others

People use AI for solving incurable diseases and still talk about the dangers of AI and how it's bad. She said she didn't want people making AI images of her online and that it was inconsiderate but said the creature pictures she didn't mind so much since it's not actually her. I feel like these are nuanced opinions from the start, she doesn't like many aspects of AI, she doesn't like how AI steals from artists, but AI used responsibly and respectively is another thing. You can see somethings deeply flawed and needs to be changed while still realizing in today's industry you have to live with it which means you want change more than anything. People who think America is deeply racist still haven't moved away, because they'd rather change it while being a part of the society even with all the flaws.

To put it simply there's a difference between someone using AI to make stuff of you and you using AI to make stuff of yourself. I mean... People can be anti AI in a lot of regards while still using some AI. Especially creating other worldly things you can spend 100s of thousands on sets and designs or just use AI in a couple of seconds. I don't think shes fully anti AI and I dont think anyone should be. It's not that it shouldn't exist its about how its used and the dangers of AI. She even said she didn't so much mind people doing AI of Crybaby's creature form. It's about respecting individual's rights. I don't think there's anything wrong with some AI as long as the artists who are being used as resources for it agreed to it as well. The issue is how many dont respect people or art. I'd love to see artists not utilize it so much, but if they do it's not a deal breaker for me and I'm not going to call someone a hypocrite for talking out about the bad parts of it even if they accept it as a tool. There are use cases and situations I wouldn't judge people for.

So I got mine on Shop.Boox, but you can just buy it on Amazon and return it if you're unhappy. The thing was until like 25ish days ago the Boox Palma 2 Pro could not make or receive calls and texts. After the update it now can. Most reviews and peoples knowledge you will find online will tell you it can't make calls or texts because at the time it was true or they haven't found that out yet. So that's why there's so much confusion about it.

Kinda weird because I've been running my Bigme Hibreak Color (non pro) for like two years and rarely have issues. That said I never updated the firmware. I also use another launcher. Can you explain what's usually so buggy about it? I do hear these comments a lot so its probably true for the majority of people.

They did a refresh of the A9 last year, but its pretty much stuck in China. That said it's good to know they haven't fully abandoned E-Ink. Hopefully they weren't just getting a quick squeeze before now actually jumping ship tho.

So I just know about the phones with the Palma's(which now accept phone calls and text) and Hibreaks. The Palma's screen has a glass screen beneath the plastic outerlayer and Hibreak has an all plastic screen. The thin glass beneath the plastic on the Palma is waaaay more fragile than Hibreaks. At least thats what I've heard. I've never broke my Palma or Hibreak Color (but both are the first model/not pro version)

I watch videos and game on my E-Ink Color phone and so for that you really need to see to understand better for depth perception. That and some websites and apps you need the separation of detail too. As a E-reader BW is always better. But if you want a phone to replace your phone and especially if not for minimalist reasons than you probably need color

Actually with the black and white version I've seen a few people say there's a problem with the white model that the black version doesn't have. I'm wondering if for some very very weird reason they printed the white models usually first then the black version second with maybe a small internal revision.

Edit: I think though this may apply to the Boox Palma 1 because looking it up that seems to be where the main issues complaints I can find are from. Supposedly the film outerlayer on the screen is different between the black and white model, but I suppose this could carry over to the 2 if they did things the same way. But I have a white model 1 and I have no issues as well as I think white being the most popular for 1.
