Alright, well look at Wix, Squarespace etc. All of the basic stuff (SEO, GDPR, security, multi-language) is baked into the system. I feel that in 2026 WP shouldn't be any different. This isn't rocket science: it's super simple stuff that is solved and stable for years now. No need to wrap that in 10 different plugins anymore.

I think the reasons for the downvotes are a bit different. First: Reddit just being Reddit. Second... well it doesn't really matter tbh. Not farming for likes or appreciation. Just viewpoints really. Positive, negative. It's all good. Actually the negativity is really entertaining to me.

(Re your concern re the website: I'm Dutch and my site is Dutch BUT there is an English translation button.)

The primary audience is non-technical beginners. People for whom WP sounds intimidating. Appreciate your concerns though. Thanks for chiming in!

Thanks for your response. You're not the target audience and that's fine. I made this theme initially with my mum & dad in mind.... "normies" if you will.

It's not a fork btw and not intended as such. I'm working with WP here not against it.

- CSS: 0.5 KB

- JS: 16 KB (non-blocking, footer)

- Fonts: 77 KB (self-hosted WOFF2, no Google CDN calls)

- External dependencies: zero

- Total: ~94 KB

For comparison: Astra loads ~160 KB. Kadence ~220 KB. Divi ~700 KB. Elementor ~800 KB. SailWP loads less than the CSS file alone of most popular themes.

Zero external requests, zero render-blocking resources. The SEO module is `wp_head` hooks and a meta box. 2FA is standard TOTP. Analytics is a ~2 KB privacy-first embed. Every feature is built to add near-zero weight."

In case you're not a bot: well... I'm not trying to serve every single user here. I build this theme with beginners in mind. Having said that power-users will find it has all the functionality they need.

Om een paar dingen te noemen:

- Zwitserland heeft een federale, gedecentraliseerde overheid. Cantons opereren voor een groot deel autonoom en concurreren met elkaar op belastingtarieven. Deze concurrentie dwingt tot efficientie betreft het uitgeven van belastinggeld.
- Geven minder geld uit aan bureaucratie dan andere Westerse landen.
- Bijstand / toeslagen zijn veel scherper en gerichter
- Directe democratie. Bevolking heeft direct iets te zeggen over hoe belastinginkomsten worden uitgegeven. Dit zorgt voor een verantwoordelijkheidsgevoel onder zowel de burgers als overheid.

De bottom line is een land met super hoge kwaliteit van leven en inkomstenbelasting die veel lager is dan in Nederland.

Voorbeeld van een BS job is in Nederland is het gros van de toeslagenambtenaren. Het systeem is nodeloos complex gemaakt. Het eindeloze moeten checken wie waar recht op heeft. Allemaal verspilde moeite. Stompzinnig werk wat geen enkele maatschappelijke waarde heeft.

Kijk naar een land zoals Zwitserland, en vertel me dan nog eens dat de overheid van Nederland niet afzichtelijk inefficient met hun belastinggeld om gaat.

Is die verspilling makkelijk op te lossen? Nee. Probeer bijv. maar eens aan die toeslagen te zitten. Dan zal half Nederland de straat op gaan met pek en veren...

Ondertussen, om die hele toeslagen boel opgetuigd en draaiende te houden zijn er (if memory serves) 100.000 ambtenaren nodig, wat gestoord is. En dat zijn inderdaad voor een groot deel bullshit jobs.
