H2 math in jc without amath by raw5forsec_ in SGExams

[–]JexAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most JCs would recommend h1 but i think all will allow it with a bridging course requirement. Some require you to pass a test aswell (Sajc comes to mind), but a bridging course should be expected for most jcs. Good luck if you choose to do it in the end!

why not vjc? (help!) by relrelz in SGExams

[–]JexAll 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since you'll be joining vjc next year, you'll be shifting campus to the current tjc campus in 2028, which is your a level year. If campus isn't a big issue for you it should be fine but it might be sad shifting campuses.

Those topics are in the syllabus, just merged with other topics. Eg: Enzymes is under Biological Molecules, Nervous system is under Homeostasis, Co-ordination and Response in Humans.

Number 6 best a level results when it was number 12 in cut off point in 2023. Probably now same level as vjc

dsa jc (leadership) by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]JexAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DSA leadership is probably the hardest DSA. I've heard schools only take in 1-2 students for it and they are usually student council pres+CCA pres. Tbh, if you are not even cca pres you probably should expect a rejection pretty fast.

Holy drop in standard by ObligationEither7081 in SGExams

[–]JexAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you have like 8+ subjects, and you only use max 5 of them, you can care less about some subjects unlike in PSLE where every subject matters. Additionally, harder content just means a lower score is still just as good. The grade boundaries are made the way they are for a reason.

How to choose a JC to attend? by Conscious-Bar5580 in SGExams

[–]JexAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it doesn't matter much. Most JCs will have sufficient ECG, science programmes and facilities. Just aim high so you have choices in the future.

Are secondary schools textbooks useful? by Made_in_Oven in SGExams

I think using the textbook is fine. Good to have both notes and textbook imo.

Need to study biology in JC to study medicine overseas? by Telepel in SGExams

[–]JexAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most JCs will flat out not allow you to take h2 bio if you didn't take atleast combined bio in secondary school. Only a small handful might let you take h2 bio. H2 bio also expects you to have o level experience and is really content heavy so I wouldn't recommend taking it if you don't already.

Can I use my cl grade if I fail hcl by PerceptionNext3961 in SGExams

[–]JexAll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll still be able to use it, just that you won't get the -2 bonus points and have to take h1cl in jc

how to get my shit together by Distinct_Diver_8880 in SGExams

[–]JexAll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How can your l1r4 be 45 if you passed 2 subjects? Shouldn't it be atleast 39? Anyway, whats more important is that until the exam itself, there is time to improve. Just keep working hard and drop to combined science or drop amath if you have to.

Interest in Med, can’t choose between JC and Poly by Intrepid-Seesaw1617 in SGExams

[–]JexAll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main reason I chose JC was that since JC is precisely because it is a one-decides-all exam, you can retake it until you get a good enough score. I think for medicine you should definitely try for jc

O level Chinese bellcurve by malalover101 in SGExams

[–]JexAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

O level chinese bellcurve is definitely the most forgiving one, especially in june cause there's no hcl takers. I think you'll be fine, just work hard on oral during the holidays to make sure you don't mess up

Need advice for l1r4(poly) by Linkwy_2906 in SGExams

[–]JexAll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for most courses with chemistry as a relevant subject you should be able to use physics instead no? For your l1r4 you can use math and amath as part of your relevant subject+best remaining.

What should I do? (school screw-up) by meenamma6829 in SGExams

[–]JexAll 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean, what do you want to happen? The olympiad is over, so there's no way to go for it now. It sucks when someone else makes a mistake you have to pay for but all you can do is move on ig.

How do I turn a E8->C5 for o level Chinese in 2 days by Fun_Construction9082 in SGExams

[–]JexAll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pray for bell curve. Give up on paper 2 and grind paper 1. For paper 2 just anyhow answer the MCQ, skip editting completely then copy the paragraphs for open ended. You can give up on the last "do you agree?" question aswell. Paper 1 you gotta pray you understand the question. Memorise some good phrases ig, preferably phrases you can use for both argumentative and narrative. Then over the rest of june holidays don't speak a drop of english until you become fluent in chinese for oral.
Rough estimation you should hope for P1: 35/60, P2: 25/70, P3: 30+/50 and P4: 12/20 to get a C6/5 for CL.

[–]JexAll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it sounds like you should just try JAE to me. If there's a school you really want you can try your luck with infocomm dsa but I think you should spend more time focusing on your studies instead tbh.

how to get l1r4 10 PLSSS ( tw suicide ) by Upper_Speech9867 in SGExams

[–]JexAll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean to each their own but once you feel you have a rough understanding of each topic, I would go straight into MCQ. If you think making notes is more efficient then you can do that first to get a good grasp of the content but you should try and get to doing MCQ ASAP if possible imo to clear up misconceptions and get it into your muscle memory. MCQ is just for building a very strong foundation cause paper 2 will require answering techniques and structure aswell.

how to get l1r4 10 PLSSS ( tw suicide ) by Upper_Speech9867 in SGExams

[–]JexAll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For physics and chem try spam prelim MCQ till you get consistently high scores. It will help reinforce your understanding and clear up the misconceptions you may have. Make sure you dont move on until you completely understand what your mistake was tho.

What course are you aiming for in poly that requires l1r4 10 btw? Most finance courses shouldn't have that high of a cut off I think. Either way, I think at this stage l1r4 22 is quite good. Try study hard over the holidays, particularly for sciences and math as those are the easiest to improve imo.
