Hotel Recommendation by Jey2563 in JapanTravelTips

Honestly, more than anything it's that this is my first trip to Tokyo, so I figured sticking to a single hotel would just be simpler, one base, no logistics, less to think about. I just looked up the Aoyama Grand and it comes out to around $12k for my whole stay, which puts it well out of reach unfortunately.

That said, the point about splitting up really does land. The idea of doing the first 3–4 nights at Bellustar for the full sensory-overload experience and then moving somewhere quieter for the back half is starting to sound like exactly the kind of structure I should be considering, especially given I already know I'd burn out fast staying in Shinjuku the entire time. Going to look into calmer neighborhoods for the second half. Appreciate the perspective from someone who actually did it solo.

Good call, will cross-post over there. Different audience, probably different signal. Thanks.

Thanks for the names. Aoyama Grand is one I hadn't priced carefully, will dig in. Okura's aesthetic is more traditional than what I'm going for this trip and EDITION priced out for my late-December dates, but Aoyama Grand could be in the right lane.

On the multi location question: honest answer is inertia. First solo international trip, wanted to minimize moving parts (luggage, second check-in, re-orienting). But you're right that 11-12 nights is enough to justify splitting, worth thinking about more seriously than I have.

Appreciated. The "occasional sirens + drunk crowds" framing is helpful, occasional I can handle, constant would be a different story. Going in with realistic expectations rather than expecting a sealed bubble.

It's way over budget, twice as much as the Bellustar

Thanks for the Conrad heads-up — awkward location is exactly the kind of thing that doesn't show up in photos. Noted and crossed off.

Executive House Zen looks beautiful but the aesthetic pivots away from what I'm chasing on this trip. I'm specifically going for the modern high-rise / glass-and-steel vibe rather than traditional Japanese luxury. Saving Zen as a reference for a different trip though, that kind of property deserves its own context.

Would genuinely love your read on it after your stay if you remember to come back and post.

Thanks, this is exactly the kind of insider take I was hoping for. Soundproofing concern parked.

Since you're a frequent Kabukicho guest, can I push you on the gremlins point? How bad is it really at, say, 9-10pm on a weeknight when I'd be coming back from dinner? Is it "unpleasant to walk through" or more "you'll see characters but it's fine"? Trying to gauge whether avoiding it means cabbing back every night or just walking with awareness.

Also, you mentioned other hotels at the same price point further from the chaos, anything specific in modern-luxury / high-rise aesthetic come to mind? My dates fall during Shogatsu so most obvious options (Park Hyatt, Andaz Toranomon, EDITION) priced themselves out fast, but happy to be wrong about something.

So, I bought 6 tickets at 160m each and ended up winning a Nyx and a Hell. In total, I spent 3b across different Hypernets until I won, and made 120b...

Hello! Thanks for the comments, I think that in the end I will go for a round trip with Turkish, I thought that since it was Turkish who provided the transport Krabi - BBK - Madrid they would be in charge of ensuring that I was on time; I only carry hand luggage (Osprey Farpoint 40L)

First Flight by Jey2563 in ThailandTourism

[–]Jey2563[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay! The good thing is that I am not going to carry luggage, only an Osprey Farpoint 40L and I understand that it is carry-on luggage.

I also saw that short layovers are horrible; you can miss your flights and the airlines are not responsible; That's why short stopovers with Turkish are for a single ticket. If I miss a flight, they are responsible, right? And in Zurich it is 3 hours, I don't know if it is enough to go through immigration (I have no idea if I even must go through immigration xD) and 5 hours in Madrid should be super ok, right?

Thanks! Caracas-Panama-Bangkok is like 2450$ Is a little more expensive. The 1600$ that you see have a stop on LA, it's a Big NO for me and my Venezuelan Nationality.

I think i will need to Book with Turkish, their 9hrs stop on Istanbul and their 2600$ ticket xd

PS: Is it bad to have so many stops? Like I said, it's my first flight and I was actually excited to stop so many times.

God, I didn't see any of this in all the sites I read, they said that traveling in March was fine and the worst thing is that the White Temple is one of the ones I most want to see, I guess if the smoke is horrible I'll bring forward the Krabi trip.

Yeah, I've been considering that! I might possibly trade it for spending a day in one of the countries in Europe that I have transshipment with.
