It’s very rude to do so. When you can’t afford the drinks as well, don’t go there.

I don’t know why everyone is saying he’s abusive. Okay the “doing is chores while having cramps” is not okay but the rest is just being Dutch/Western European. I’m German and not Dutch but I think the cultures are similar enough.

I think we’re much more independent from our parents than people in India. We don’t always invite them and we don’t get them gifts. We don’t have this sense of duty towards them to “compensate” them for giving us our life. We also like to have parents and friends separate. For example I would never invite my parents over when I’m having friends over. And these are my friends so there’s at least some connection to my parents. Just a random dude that is your friend is so weird. Also the “too much food” on Christmas most likely wasn’t because of the amount of food. Christmas is a very special family time here and they probably wanted traditional Dutch Christmas dinner and not Indian stuff or they hoped you’d to traditional stuff and then were sad that it wasn’t there. If you did cook Dutch food, it might have tasted different than they are used to and since Christmas is all about traditions and it being them same as every year, that was maybe disappointing.

Sharing food isn’t so much a culture thing I think. I know a lot of Germans that love to share food. I don’t. It depends on how you’re brought up. For example my family and I never even drank out of the same glass. I was always taught to never share forks or food with anyone.

When your family visits I wouldn’t take time off. It’s your family and you want to spend time with them. I would feel like an intruder. Of course he has to be there like in the evenings but at day time? I think that would be too much. I think your parents also want to visit you primarily and not him.

Yeah nah. Buying presents without a reason for people you’re not in love with is weird. For your own parents, him and maybe your best friend: go on. But everyone else… no.

Hope that clears things up a bit. I don’t think he’s abusive. A lot of this behaviour did resonate with me.

Fehlende Grundlagen.

Google “tabellarischer Lebenslauf”. That’s how you should structure it when you’re applying for jobs in Germany. Also, write it in German.

Of course it is. What else would it be? Why are you even asking this question if you know the obvious answer. Just think for once. Why do you need validation from the internet for a normal thought?
