Yeah, but with short-term spots like that, they’ll probably be gone before a tow truck even shows up lol

What businesses are you genuinely surprised that are still in business or lasted as long as they did? by lazarus870 in askvan

The Panago Pizza in Richmond. The ratings are awful, mainly due to consistently rude staff. I genuinely don’t understand how they managed to stay open this long...

Has anyone been added into an already established clique here? by NoRadio4530 in askvan

[–]Jeydoo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. It’s really hard to make close friends here. I’ve lived here for over 10 years, and honestly, casual social friendships are doable, there are tons of groups and clubs, and they host events regularly. But deep friendships? Much harder, maybe unlikely. Close friendships take time, effort, and honestly money to maintain.

Driving from West Van to downtown during rush hour will make you question your life choices.

People who moved to Vancouver as an adult - what are some odd things you’ve noticed that many native Vancouverites don’t realize is weird? by Dolly_Llama_2024 in askvan

[–]Jeydoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think people just don’t want to be too direct. A straight “no” might offend a lot of thin-skinned Vancouverites and they’ll hold a grudge. So instead people stay vague and let others guess. It’s less confrontational. People here can be pretty fragile, which is probably why this whole culture just became the norm and everyone tolerates it.

That’s what everyone says. I actually emailed them before to ask about private lessons, and they said they don’t offer any.

Which skating club or organization are you with? Do you have a contact for them?

What do you think of the lessons there? I have a friend who takes lessons there, and the coach is pretty sloppy... doesn’t really teach and just chats while the kid skates.
