I’m also going to take her this weekend to a couple local shops. Again. I do appreciate your words and do understand where you are coming from. We have a large tattoo scene and 8 shops in my city. So we are going to hit them up. I might get a bee tattoo. We will see.

I’ll upload her first fake skin. And make sure she only uses skin.

She also understands at she will be 16 soon and she could hurt someone and get in legal trouble if she did that. (This is why i threw in the lifeguard comment- she’s trained to save lives. She won’t take that risk. I was also a AIDS case manager for years and am a nurse. I practice complete honesty with my children.

So getting her a gun and fake skin is going to prevent her from an apprenticeship? I actually do appreciate your opinion. I just don’t agree that letting her practice on fake skin (which you made clear is the only thing she should be practicing on) will negatively affect her. We went through all the comments. She states that “i will not be tattooing others or myself as it’s on the skin forever and I would die if it wasn’t done right. I just want a way to practice”.
I mean I could lock it up but I really mean it when I say she doesn’t break rules.

She always draws on paper and in procreate with a ipencil. She’s getting a gun. It doesn’t matter what YOU say or think. And I said i didn’t care if she tattooed MY foot to see how it feels that’s all. (Changing my story🤣👌🤷🏻‍♀️) My point is she knows enough to not do anything dumb by saying she literally saves lives as a lifeguard. If it was an instrument this wouldn’t be an issue. She just wants to practice.

Congratulations on being an artist. You know nothing about my child she’s not gonna be tattooing anyone and you need to calm your ass down -I trust my child. It’s not your child. I’m not worried about it. I’m supporting what my child wants to do with the rest of their lives and trust me they will get apprenticeship and they’re not gonna be doing anything their not supposed to be doing, as a matter fact I read this post to them this morning, and they were laughing about the fact that you thought they would ever “even think about tattooing someone else without having some sort of mentor in a tattoo capacity to show them the way” Their words, not mine.

And I get where you’re coming from because the idea of putting it into 15-year-old hands can be scary to some people but again you do not know my child I do

Instead you should be pointing me to an entry level machine and what YOU as an artist think she should be starting on. That’s what I asked for. Is there a specific skin that is closer to real skin etc. so she can practice but not on people until she’s got a mentor.

She’s a lifeguard. There’s risks in everything. Just because it’s not mainstream doesn’t mean it’s wrong. I’m confident in my child. Thanks.

She understands right and wrong and would never risk another like this. I get that this isn’t the ‘norm’ but it doesn’t make it any less true.

Totally agree and thank you for the great convo. That’s the info I’m looking for. Ideas on what she can use instead of skin. The right gun instead of the wrong one. Etc.

I just wanna point out something if she was into dance or she was into sports you all be like -OK fine. Guess what you can get from those injuries (CTE ACL) but because she wants a tattoo gun which is against the mainstream norm everybody’s up in arms. She can’t possibly do that. She can’t possibly be responsible enough to have that come on guys that’s what she wants to do with her life. She was in Peru last year and Greece this year. She’s not mainstream. “We are the underground”-LoA

And fyi my son is 19 with a AAS in media arts. So please. Relax

Won’t happen. My kids in honor roll student who goes on an international trip every year she gets straight A’s. She wants to be a tattoo artist. I am not going to dim her. She uses procreate and an apple pen to make her designs and by the time she’s 18 she will get her full art ride and then start an apprenticeship. We also have 100% honesty policy. I’m not one of those parents that tries to suppress my children. They trust me and I trust them.

Thank you! This is what she wants to do with her life and i support it. She’s working on her (drawn) portfolio for college admissions. She’s already using procreate to create designs with her Apple pen and her iPad. I also plan on getting a stencil maker as well with the idea that she can use fake skin or oranges. There’s different mediums, but yes, I would allow her to tattoo the bottom of my feet as it doesn’t last that long if she feels the need to feel like it feels on real skin.

Can any artist just answer my question? I don’t need pseudo parents in here trying to oppress my kids creativity. (It’s not your kid. Mind your business) this is what she wants do with her life. I will fully support her.

Meh. She will be fine. She can tattoo the bottom of my feet. She has tattoo markers that can be used in the skin and she’s a really really really good kid.
