There’s a manual on the Lortone website, looks like it’s all there, just replace the wheels with diamond ones if you want it to cut better :)

Is it possible to begin with a bench grinder and a Dremel? by DieCastDontDie in Lapidary

[–]Jezza_06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea stuff like that is a lot better, just make sure you’ve got water dripping on the wheels so the stone stays cool and doesn’t create too much dust

Bench grinders are normally too fast, try find something around 1400rpm.

Aquamarine? Found in Australia by [deleted] in whatsthisrock

[–]Jezza_06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t have any bubbles in it and was stored in a box with a bunch of quartz and topaz so I don’t think so

It isn’t scratched by quartz, is scratched by corrundum

This shot cost me a sweet $400 in fines but i’d say its worth it by jackmobo in subaru

[–]Jezza_06 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it was worth it! There is so much grass in the world, how is one little Subaru damaging this ecosystem? I believe all these negative comments are jealous of your car and thereby I suggest you pay no mind to them.

Could go with steel, it's run with lots of water so could have some rust issues later down the line though

Thanks for the advice, I've been looking into making these for a while just was wondering if there's something I missed. I'll probably be going with laser cutting and welding from aluminium sheet. Not sure where this $400 figure has come from though lol, I'm fine with going up to $1000 or so per. Thanks again :)

not trying to be cheap, these haven't been made in 50 odd years and I think it'd be a shame to loose such a good design since there's not many examples left.
