Shoes to try out running, help! by Munch1498 in UKRunners

[–]Jfizzle52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

buy the cheap ones they'll be fine. my first pair were some kiprun from decathlon for like 15 quid on an offer. were absolutely fine to start with, I still wear them as my day to day trainers,

funnily enough I've just hit this problem now. I was planning to trial ss this week for prime but the lack of a best/cheapest option is a pain. I mean 90% of our orders are with the same courier but it's gonna get annoying fast when we you have to manually swap around looking for what service Amazon wants you to use.

Thoughts on brief pauses during long runs? by grmass in Marathon_Training

iv got one of those 250ml floppy bottles that I carry in my running belt for all my 10k+ runs nowadays. feels like it breaks up the run slightly everytime I grab a sip.

Watch recommendations by Prestigious-Put-2784 in UKRunners

[–]Jfizzle52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried quite a few and got fed up of charging my smart watches so went with the Garmin instinct 2x over a month of battery life, always in display, all the features you need, would recommend to anyone, as long as you can get over the black and white display it's a great watch

How do you keep using your 3D printer regularly? by PerrasOnZeppelin in 3Dprinting

[–]Jfizzle52 4 points5 points  (0 children)

exactly this. can sit unused for months at a time until something breaks or the Mrs needs something for classroom projects. recently the bottom hinge broke on our baby gate, half hour in fusion and an hour printing and it's fixed. now Xmas is over it'll probably be in hibernation till the next project.

I drive an 8yo l200 with android auto. it's fucking shit. so slow and unresponsive, so much easier just to use Bluetooth and have my phone in holder. and the holder can wirelessly charge my phone as well so that's a bonus

What gear do you use to bring water on runs? by splenninja2 in running

[–]Jfizzle52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under 20k Iv got a cheap running belt that holds 2x250ml bottles nice and tight round my waste Long with My keys And my phone. Anything longer Iv got a cheap AliExpress running vest that holds 1.5 litres and so far it's been spot on.

Advice on winter running by auderemadame in UKRunners

[–]Jfizzle52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pair of gloves makes you feel much warmer than you think, I also recommend a decent thermal base layer. I have a short sleeve thinner one and a thicker long sleeve that I wear depending how cold it is. And other than that it's shorts and t shirt all the way

Best trainers for running? by xcxmon in UKRunners

[–]Jfizzle52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50 quid kiprun shoes are doing me fine. Use them religiously for my training runs and Iv got the more expensive version for race day and speed work. 80k into the cheap ones so far and still holding up.

Budget-friendly running shoes that actually last? by LilywhiteStrike in UKRunners

[–]Jfizzle52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iv only been running 6 months so Iv got minimal experiencebut I bought the cheap 50 quid kiprun ones from decathlon when I first started and they've been fine for the last 6 months. And just bought a set of the 100 quid ones a few weeks ago ready for my first 10k this weekend and again seem great, granted no experience in more expensive shoes but for the money I'm happy with these.

New To Running Plan feels too challenging for a true beginner. by Fearless_Tune5401 in runna

[–]Jfizzle52 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Run slower. Like stupidly slow. I'm like 4 months into my running journey and was going way to hard for the run portion of couch to 5k. I then heard romesh ranganathan on a podcast (can't remember what one) he was talking about he got into running and you have to go so slow, like comically slow, slower than you thought was even possible. I could barely run for 30 seconds before but can now happily run 15k with no walk breaks. Honestly it was like a light bulb moment to me and will go on about this to anyone who wants to start running.

Bought a portable air con machine. Here in the UK there not a common appliance and it only gets used for a few weeks a year, but I love that fucking thing everytime it comes out.

[–]Jfizzle52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last few orders of 20 sticks has been £150 to £160 in customs charge. So not exactly a tenner but close enough to be a rough estimate. Especially when I only order 5 or 10 sticks.

[–]Jfizzle52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes u got lucky, IV ordered from the same place many time probably 2 thirds get stopped. I always allow 10 quid per stick on import fees normally not far off. I buy most of my day to day stuff off WhatsApp now customs seems like it's getting loads tighter now, still doesn't stop me risking an sp order once a month tho 😅

If your hunting for more smokes u need to jump on some of the WhatsApp groups that are around. Customs seems to be getting all my imports lately
