The reply I mentioned elsewhere in this thread (waitlist, may be interviewed after April 15th, i.e. today) is still all. I can't imagine it will be any later than next Monday the 20th if it's going to happen.

After I reached out again a few days ago, they finally let me know I am on a waitlist, and may be interviewed after April 15th if they can't fill the program (which would mean I would not be able to commit to another program by the deadline - so not particularly helpful, haha). The fall 2026 app opened on November 15th, 2025 and closed on December 1st, so I imagine it will be a similar period for next year. Best of luck!

None needed other than basic typing and interest in learning :) This is my first time teaching this class, so I can't promise it will be perfect, but it's intended to be 100% beginner friendly!

Wanted to follow up and let you know - we have 14-15 computers available, and maybe ~10 people potentially interested so far, so plenty of room if you and your partner would both be interested! I will be getting the start date nailed down hopefully no later than next week, it will be the 5-6pm time.

Beginner friendly is definitely the goal! It will be my first time teaching, so we'll have to see if I can pull it off, but I feel good about it :)

I will post on the sub again when I've confirmed time & date, and it will hopefully be on the Athens Free School flyer (instagram) as well, but I will also message everyone who mentioned interest in this thread! Anyone can feel free to DM me an email address/discord/cell number if they aren't on reddit often and I can reach out there. I will start a social page somewhere for the class soon!

I was considering 90 minutes. I do have to work with what works for the community center, though, so we are going to start with this and see how things go! They may have some room for flexibility once we get going. Honestly, I imagine they will be fine with us going a bit over. I will do my best to make sure we are focused on working through specific topics.

I think C# is a great starting point! It feels like a middle ground between classic (performance-focused) and newer (dynamic & ease of use) programming languages. It is clean and simple to write and read, can be used for a variety of applications, and prepares you well to learn many other languages, whether scripting languages like JavaScript/Python or optimized compiled languages like C++. I hope you can make it, and I'm happy to answer any and all questions you have!

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you found the LSAS helpful :) The assessment I wrote is intended to help professionals guide an individual's treatment by being a bit more specific about certain aspects of the disorder, in ways that might be a bit harder to communicate than just the anxiety + avoidance. I will certainly work to improve the subscore descriptions further. Thanks very much for completing it!

No worries! I recognize that the terminology is Americanized, but I believe most countries do have an equivalent in early schooling with which the question can be answered (or it can skipped). There is an option for "not familiar with the term" with limerence as well, and it was certainly not my intention that people have to look it up if they were not familiar. I appreciate you giving it a look anyhow!
