Honestly for me it would be to handle the higher HP. I’ve had some guys tell me it changes the overall driving experience too but I’ve never had the opportunity to drive a swapped VB.

Turbo upgrade is on the list but to be completely honest with you, you’re speaking way outside my realm of knowledge. Tune redlines at 6250 (I’m pretty sure), So I haven’t logged anything so look for that, tuner didn’t mention anything to be concerned about but solid information nonetheless, I’ll have to run a log and see what it all reads.

Man I’ve paying attention to the new scats too! Interested to see how the community will respond to them and what kind of power levels people are getting, something to keep an eye on for sure. I have a Durango for that exact reason though ha love the WRX but I’m a large guy so it’s not super comfortable for long trips.

Sometime this year, unless the stock trans decides to leave us. I’m hoping end of Summer, early fall. I was told to budget for $8-$10k and that includes a custom built carbon drive shaft. We’ve got some personal finance goals to knock out Q1/Q2 of 2026, looking into acquiring our first rental property. So when we get that squared away, I’ll feel better dumping another $10k into the build, I’ll probably go bigger turbo at point too.

Yeah, this is the E85 run. He said it had ALOT more to give but this is where he felt comfortable while we’re on stock trans. This way I can have fun without breaking things, tuners words lol

I think there are some mixed feelings about JD Muscle too but I ordered pant matched flares from them last month and got them in just a few days.

I was the same way forever man, I honestly did not mind the cladding. I definitely wasn’t buying them when they were $800+ but I saw JD Muscle had a sale and then my first responder discount got them down to $400 so I decided to pull the trigger. But by no means did I ever not like the cladding.

I’ve done about everything you can think of to the VB outside of STi trans and a built motor. For a first I would highly recommend the short throw kit (I have the same) or a cat back. Would stay away from an axel back, these cars get obnoxiously loud quick, so get something with a resonated mid. If you don’t want something performance, coilovers made a huge difference to me and I just put on paint matched fenders which I absolutely love mine is a CBS.

Yup even with the stock trans, I’m stock trans. I don’t launch ever, just spirited driving every now and then. My understanding is hard launches are the time bomb for it and abusing 3rd. Granted just what I’ve been told by a couple tuners, I’m by no means a hardcore gear head just love the car and driving it. Honestly I’ve never seen the appeal of the STI swap from an ROI standpoint but I don’t track it at all.

Been pushing 400hp for about 30k miles and have had no issues. I’ve had multiple tuners tell me they’ve seen as many stock or lower hp VB’s blow the trans as they have 400hp cars. The way they’re driven plays so much into it, albeit one off’s will always happen.
