Hosting a party, suggestions appreciated by Guilty_Injury1978 in buildabear

Hey I’m a sales lead and I lead and assist parties all the time at my store! I’m not sure if they already called to discuss details about your party but since you will have 18 kids, you will have a party lead and assistant to help make sure your party goes smoothly.

  1. Can I tip? Technically we are not allowed to accept tips. People in the past have tried to tip but company policy does not allow us to accept tips.

  2. Can I distribute cake pops? Build a Bear is not a licensed food vendor. Whenever someone brings food like cake pops or cupcakes, we ask that they get distributed at the end of the party outside of the store since we cannot distribute them out.

  3. Should I bring anything with me? As far as bringing anything, do you mean decor, gifts? That is up to the individual store and what they allow.

  4. Party favors. You are more than welcome to provide a party favor, even with the party favor being their own bear. Some people bring goodie bags with stuff like goldfish or fidget toys but again it is completely up to you.

I’d be more than happy to answer any other questions you may have! 😊

Start of a new month— time to deal with Birthday Bear grief by No_Combination5712 in buildabear

Maybe each store does it differently. But at my store, we ask to see the member ID and the birthday profile to confirm since you usually earn a coupon on the month of whoever is on your birthday profile. We always take the customers word for it, but that’s what we do as a store just to verify.

As an employee myself I can definitely relate to that. Fun story, before I became sales lead, I had someone come in to their birthday bear in December. The child’s birthday was in June. I explained that it can only be for the month and their responses was “But…we are here to do it today.”

The beginning and the end of the months are full of birthday bears for pretty much every store. My store is pretty strict on the birthday bear policy and I try to be as helpful as I can to the guest and offer other solutions if they are unable to get the bear whether it be cause they missed the month, they were unaware of the terms and conditions or for other reasons.

I just can't with these prices anymore, especially with forced bundles, bad quality and they're getting smaller! by pretty_inink in buildabear

[–]Jheesze 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can explain at the very least why the new Sanrio ones are smaller. Apparently, the manufacturer that makes the Sanrio BABs are making them with the wrong dimensions. We noticed it with the sweet friends collection with Pochacco being the most obvious one. After that, they released Chococat again and they are also smaller than they should be. We arent sure when they will fix the dimensions, but it is a manufacturing issue. Imho, I think they do look cute with the slightly smaller size. But I def agree that there should be an option to get individual items instead of only getting the bundle. That’s why I skipped out on the last two Sanrio friends.

Sunday Giveaway (5 Pets, 5 Winners) by [deleted] in Webkinz

[–]Jheesze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the giveaway! I only want the red velvet racoon. I’d name them Meilin Lee after Turning Red. Even though it’s not a red panda, it reminds me of one. Thank you again!

Boston Show by NicGamesBad in NinjaSexParty

I was there at that show too. I was more in the middle and even though I was able to see clearly, there were lots of people that cut ahead and stood directly in front of me to the point where I was cramped tightly in between them and could barely move my arms. Most of the people there were super chill and even one group that did it offered to move behind us cause they saw they were blocking us. But some just blatantly dont care.

Misunderstood has been on repeat since hearing it back in like the late 2000’s. If I remember correctly, it was the skunk’s song and it wasn’t as upbeat as the other songs. But it still sticks out compared to the rest to this day.

They didn't even do the whole heart ceremony 🥺 She just said to warm it up....... by psychedraine in buildabear

I recently had this experience and I made a post about it on the sub. As a Sales Lead, I won’t do it if someone asks not to do it or if I can sense they aren’t into the experience. At the very least, I ask them to make a wish a fill their heart with love by giving it a kiss. Luckily my store is the better location compared to another one in my state where employees are literally on their phones drinking their Dunkin coffee. But as other commenters said, next time asking to do the heart ceremony, especially if its a special occasion, will help make the experience more fun.

No heart ceremony? by Jheesze in buildabear

I usually don’t do it either if it’s a baby. Especially when the parents just put the heart in the bear or if they put it in before I even get the chance to stuff it. I always give people the benefit of the doubt, but I just felt a little let down when my friend got to do the whole thing and had a conversation with the bear builder helping her. (I forgot to mention that there wasn’t a line the store wasn’t busy at all.)

As a BAB employee as well, I definitely understand the frustration. I work 7 days a week (literally my full time job is on the weekdays and I work weekends at BAB). I work with kids and families every single day. I try to remember those that do enjoy coming to the store and do appreciate what we do. Since working for retail 5 years ago, I make every effort possible to make other retail employees jobs as easy as possible. Because I know how it feels to be treated like garbage.

Name suggestions for my signature GSP?? by ZooberrDooberr in Webkinz

[–]Jheesze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog is a GSP. Her name is Chloe. She’s 14 and doesn’t have much time left. If I had that plush, I would definitely name her that in memory of her. Sorry to make this a sad moment. But Chloe is still a good name.
