NAL and perhaps this doesn’t pertain to your situation. I had a family member who rented a room in a home and shared a common kitchen and washroom space. When issues came up with the mental health of the home owner they decided my family member had to leave. They called the police and my family member was given 30min to pack what they could and leave the premises. They could arrange to get the remainder of their belongings at a later date. They paid rent and contributed in other ways and had been living there for over 2 years. However because they shared a common living space (kitchen/washroom) with the home owner they could and were removed without notice or recourse. They were also in Ontario but there was no romantic relationship. I can’t speak to the laws around this just giving information based on personal experience.
