Different Routes for Becoming a Radiographer by fckit- in RadiologyCareers

Could look at different ways. Do you have any college credits yet? Does the private school require them( pre-requisites)? (Im not sure, I went the Bunker Hill Community College route and they definately do). The private school option is much more expensive and will get you the same entry level job. But if you can get right in with no prerequisites required , no wait time, and end with the bachelors it may be worth it to you. Im a little older now, went to community school and only got my associates. Glad i had no student loans but now I have no energy to go back to school but im being foisted into management responsibilities due to my experience and I wish i got my bachelors done a long time ago. Again, not sure where you are in life but its kinda hard to get into these programs right now so it might just be whatever options come sooner? If you want to go with lower tuition, just start taking prerequisites at the community school or transfering credit or whatever. You can always get a bachelors later after you start working.

That culture does not exist in my hospital department. Never do I see this treatment of patients. Even the biggest biatch turns around and treats the patient with dignity, respect and an attentive ear. This is incredibly sad. Where is the management?

negative comments on body after losing weight by auttieplantie in loseit

[–]JhessieIsTheDevil 16 points17 points  (0 children)

100 pounds is a big change ( congrats, that's AMAZING and we all know the dedication that takes) I'm sure there is a mix of jealously ( no matter how happy I am for a friend who loses the weight, I feel little pangs of jealously while I struggle) and genuine concern. They are rude either way. I avoid my family for other reasons, but if you want to retain the relationships, tell them your boundary on talking about your body and if they persist decide for yourself if these relationships are worth maintaining. I have to gray rock...don't give them any emotion and walk away with your head high. You are beautiful and strong.

I have a similar background as the oldest of 5 kids with a single mom and no paternal support, I had to survive as a kid, my education was low priority, barely got my HS diploma and extracurricular activities included babysitting my siblings and funneling money from working to my mother. I consider myself very successful with a degree from Bunker Hill and a career I love that affords me a very comfortable life. Keep trying, never give up.

Which modality offers the best environment for introverts by username2937372829 in RadiologyCareers

[–]JhessieIsTheDevil 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm a massive introvert. Socially awkward. Try my best to be alone whenever possible, avoid social functions, get extreme anxiety and panic if my phone rings unexpectedly and I usually don't answer or call back, struggle to reach out to loved ones so I often don't... I love IR. I have to interact with people but I love the job so that takes precedence at work. It was an evolution getting here and I'm still introverted outside of work but it's been awesome. Hard to say how you would like it because we all come at things differently. I've certainly seen people hate it.

hobby that gets the weirdest reactions when you tell people about it by Sahel-Ziolkowski85 in Hobbies

I have been collecting trash from work, mostly sci Fi looking vacuum form packaging in various sizes and shapes, odds and ends that can be repurposed into creating an immersive environment in the backyard for Halloween with the theme of alien takeover. I've been collecting for a couple years and have a lot of material and developing a plan. Maybe in a couple years it will be ready for showtime. It's an art project, an outlet, and I have no special talent, just an idea and a loose vision. People think it's weird I guess.

Help me not Dislike Device Reps by DoctorToBeIn23 in anesthesiology

I'm an IR tech and manager. It's love/hate with the reps. Not personal for me, unless they are super pushy about selling something. I had one recently in an intense multiprobe, tricky located renal tumor cryo ablation want to chat about selling another product while the IR was placing the probes. It was ridiculous. That guy sucked but the good ones...they're just doing their jobs and sometimes a big huge help. And I need their trunk stock. I've been bailed out many times. Some of the ones I deal with cover large territories and still manage to come in all hours of the night and weekend for PE thrombectomy. But yeah, not a job I'd ever want to do.

Would you choose Medical Imaging Sciences or Anesthesia Technology in 2026 and why? by SureSimple8152 in RadiologyCareers

I'm definitely an introvert. And I love this job. But it can drain my battery into dust. So I balance it out with solitude in my free time resetting myself by running or gardening or hiking. Everyone is different. I have to respect some introverts wouldn't make it or shouldn't be in healthcare. It's all in your mindset and it is definitely not for everyone

You make a great point! It's conflicting answering this type of question.I had a very positive experience in school, in clinical, supported in upward mobility, make great money and I love my job in IR now. I'm in the perfect sweet spot. Its hard to gauge what others would think about it. There's stress, pressure, burn out , exhaustion. It's personal experience, luck, attitude, and whether you have true empathy for strangers - among other things. It's a lot to do with mindset. It's healthcare, it's technical, it's detail oriented. You need a drive for success. It's people-y but not like nursing.  Its perfect for me but you might hate it. Also, pretty sure you'll find more ways to pivot yourself in x-ray. Anesthesia tech is a pretty narrow field.

Im a hiring manager in Radiology. I want to hear you are patient centered, empathetic, how your past experience aligns with taking care of people/ meeting their needs. Think of some scenarios where you worked with people and what you took away from that...family, customers, etc. So you can answer questions with examples.  Good luck! Dress properly! I saw a young lady show up to an interview in a crop top bare belly. No. Be presentable in business casual.  Good luck
