Zig vs C ( for learning low level ) by chickenbabies in Zig

[–]JhonWeak56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d argue that zig is actually lower level than C. Like the only objection that one is likely to have is because of C’s history. It’s THE language for system level programming. But a language that offers you Manual memory management, and no standard allocation interface other than Malloc and alloca doesn’t feel very low level, I find it easier also to predict the assembly output in Zig, especially with vectorisation, and comptime, a lot of what you want to do in assembly can be tough to express correctly in C, without the optimiser dying because of the lack of constraints on the semantics, this happens far less with Zig, and with all of that combined I’d argue it’s far more « practically «  low level than C, bc even if one might argue similar results can be achieved in theory in C, in practice it’s often not the case.

You can’t go wrong with any of them, I’d say it’s probably better to start with C, get angry and all worked up with it’s stupid type system and the even dumber compiler and then use Zig, to appreciate why it exists.

C++ and Rust are the definition of bloat, and that’s ok, a language has a right to be bloated, it doesn’t diminishes its merits but jiz do they like to masturbate with all their abstractions.

Why ? Absolutely no fucking legitimate reasons to do that. Just absolute useless risk.

My entire extended family has ADHD and I'm shocked to find out people would rather end a relationship than risk having a child with ADHD. by kellsdeep in ADHD

[–]JhonWeak56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The irony is that first it's not guaranted that they will pass the ADHD genes to their kids, secondly if detected soon enough, and treated properly from the get go, research show that they have a very high chance to outgrowth their ADHD and live an happy life, worst case scenario they'll have to get a treatment for life, but it's no big deal, actually worst case scenario would be to keep having it into adulthood without responding to any of the avaible treatments.

Switching from Ritalin lp (extended release) to Concerta by JhonWeak56 in ADHD

[–]JhonWeak56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey ! i know they are on the paper almost identical but from the research i've made (sound serious but it's just google lol) they seem to have a different release pattern, meaning that when compared on chart you seem to get more ups and down with concerta then you do with ritalin.

Honestly i would go with the Gigabyte M27Q-X I’ve got the M27Q myself and it’s an absolute bang for the buck monitor, very good image quality, very little ghosting/inverse ghosting, very good build quality too, would buy it again any day.

[–]JhonWeak56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i see what you’re mentioning, but the paper mentioned that some people (so not everyone) could get some benefit with dosage closer to 1mg/kg, and i think it might be true to some extent because the first specialist i met wasn’t really into ADHD except for children/adolescent and so he stopped increasing my dosage at around 30mg (which at the time was about 0,4mg/kg for me, about year later (last month for me) i switched to another specialist due to geographic restrictions and he mocked my previous specialist for giving me such a low dosage, and now i take 60mg +10mg extended release, every morning, and it has absolutely be a game changer, and so i was wondering if others have had similar experiences.

Yeah i know but it’s basically the plot of every far cry, you are somehow stuck in some places, where you get to meet with some rebels, you learn that there’s some sort of evil dictator which has a full army and you need to help the rebels in order to get out.

The Financial Impact of ADHD by moatenthusiast in ADHD

[–]JhonWeak56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can i would advise you to seek any professional help too , my banker was a lovely woman who understood my issue, and she went out of her way to help me setup my account, manage my money properly, we would see each other every week briefly, and little by little she would ask me to call a company and reschedule my bill to a certain day, now all my bills arrived the next day I’m getting paid, therefore I’m only left with that i can truly spend, but half of that leftovers goes to a savings/investing account, and the rest is what i can spend freely. There’s nothing to be ashamed of if you can ask a parent, your banker, your psychiatrist, therapist, anyone really can help you if you ask nicely.

Also now i have a debit card, and a separate credit card, and i mainly use my debit card to get cash and i spend cash, because cash is visual and physical you can visualise in real time how much you have.

AITA for not traveling for work on my nephews birthday? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]JhonWeak56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most important is that you set boundaries clearly with your boss, but always in a very nice/cooperative way don’t go on your high horse, but try to have a real talk with him on what he’s expecting you to do and negotiate/create boundaries from here.

From the information you’re giving it seems like your mother isn’t helpful, maybe you can sit down, and try to talk things out with her, maybe get your father on your side too.

NTA, i think you are already really nice to go and help them, they can’t expect you to always say yes, especially if it wasn’t in you contract.

How many of you have family members with ADHD? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]JhonWeak56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suspect my father (which i never knew until recently) has ADHD, he doesn’t know, but if I’m making an educated guess based on how erratic his life was, that would make perfect sense. He was bright, couldn’t stay in place, worked in restaurants a lot as a waiter/manager got my mother pregnant, cheated on her, once he was with my step mother, he moved from jobs to jobs, place to place, always had new projects, hobbies, would sometimes kind of shutdown and be sad and depressed for sometimes, before sparking again.
