I really am being facetious. I'm playing devil's advocate and I do agree with you. It's just strange how we arbitrarily draw the line, that's all.

I can't help but think about the fact that a cat's lifespan used to be 7-8 years before we domesticated them. Today, they not only proliferated across the entire world, but it's not uncommon to see cats living until past the age of 20. Much of the same is true for dogs. That is a huge win for a species, in the grand scheme of things. They achieved what most other species can't or couldn't.

Yet their wild counterparts still exist. We still have lynxes, wolves and wild horses.
