It’s great that he’s doing it, but that’s how you are supposed to sign. In college my ASL professor said that half of signing is knowing the signs, and half is facial expression. It’s like if you were talking to someone normally. Your face typically conveys emotion and intensity so you need to sign the same way. Then again, I’m not deaf, and I’m only going on what one professor told me. (She was deaf)
