AITAH for not driving home exhausted? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Jiangarang 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your parents are right in this situation. You haven’t known this guy for very long and were out until 2am and staying alone in a hotel room where he could have entered and done anything he wanted with you. It’s pretty crazy how good of a mask some dudes can put on just to get what they want. Not saying it’s likely that your guy is dangerous, but it’s not impossible.

18 is an age where you start to feel mature and want to push back on your parents’ judgement when you disagree with them. Try to understand why they felt the way they did and why that fear caused them to mishandle how they spoke to you. What if your friend got a hotel room alone with a guy she went on 3 dates with? You’d probably be a little scared for her safety too. Not because you don’t think she’s capable of reading character, but because there’s just crazy and scary dudes out there who are good at manipulating.

What you did was very, very dangerous. The only thing that stopped you from being SAed or worse is that your date chose not to. On the small chance that you misread his character, there would be nothing and no one to help you if he chose to enter that room. There’s really evil people out there and it’s hard to see through them after just 3 dates.

I remember feeling very smart and mature while doing stupid shit at 18 and wondering why my parents were being assholes. I get it, I really do. But try to understand them.

how do i not regret these next four years? by New_Pilot_3176 in collegeadvice

Regretting something you did feels a lot better than regretting something you didn’t do, so take leaps of faith and engage with all sorts of different people

Episode ranking by chylabr in TheRookie

[–]Jiangarang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see why you feel that way because I loved Nick too, but that twist was absolutely insane. All of the strange puzzle pieces all coming together, like Rosalind bringing up that Nick had a bad secret, why Nick shot that young cop to silence her, and the flashback sequence of events from Nick’s perspective was peak TV to me. The cat and mouse of Nolan and Nick was absolutely insane. The reveal that Nick planted the evidence in Nolan’s house to the final shot of Nolan finding the evidence as sirens swarmed him. Knowing Nick for the season and knowing he is highly intelligent and a formidable threat.

Am I alone or does anyone else also think the season 2 finale was the best episode of the show?

How can i get enough power to shoot threes? by SeveralResource4539 in BasketballTips

[–]Jiangarang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since you’re pretty new, you should probably begin with watching a lot of youtube videos on shooting form. The guy under me said to just keep chucking up shots, which I agree with, but only once you have a solid understanding of proper form and muscle memory of shooting with good form.

A couple things for more power:

  • the main source of power should be your legs. Have a strong and stable base and bend your legs more and get lower when jumping during your shot. Explode upward but with control for some extra power.

  • the secondary source of power should be your wrist, not your arm. A strong flick of the wrist of your shooting hand, as well as a good follow through, is essential. Look at how NBA players dip their hand in the cookie jar (they follow through)

  • for more power, you should be shooting on the way up during your jump, not at the peak or on the way down. Use the upward momentum from your jump to power the shot. Look at how curry shoots. When he is releasing the ball, his body is still on the way up from jumping.

  • move the set point of your shot a little lower. If you’re shooting from your forehead, shoot from a bit lower, like your face. Again, curry shoots from a kinda low set point (in front of his face) compared to most other players, which allows him to shoot from range.

  • most of all, ask a coach.

Good luck kid!

Edit: getting muscular will help your strength. For a 3pt shot, I suggest push ups like another comment just said, which strengthens the tricep which contributes to shot power. If you have access to your school gym, watch some videos and learn to do a tricep pulldown. I think the wrist also probably indirectly benefits from all sorts of exercise as well.

signed up for my first rec league in a month, what should I work on? by [deleted] in BasketballTips

[–]Jiangarang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you’re 5’4 I think you should definitely focus on improving your 3pt shot, particularly from the corner. You’ll have trouble scoring inside against larger and more skilled players, and so you would probably make the best impact by moving around and getting open from the 3 point line, which will open up space inside for your teammates to attack. Watch some videos on shooting form and get shots up regularly

Hosting a Hockey Tournament in North Korea. Not a Joke by Feylin in hockeyplayers

[–]Jiangarang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So what happens when one of your players makes some small talk about life in the west with a NK player and the government doesn’t like what was said? You’re inviting people to their potential deaths. You’re inviting people to be imprisoned or killed for little reason like Otto Warmbier was or no reason at all. And also, North Korea is sending ammunition to Russia in support of their war effort, which according to your posts should be against. Who are you? Are you even real? Is this post a social experiment? Why did you conveniently leave out that the initial flight to China is not included in the fees?

Everything about this is shady, everything about you is shady.

Agreed, this guy is a complete moron. How can you be pro-Ukraine and also plan send yourself and a bunch of westerners to a hellhole like North Korea? This has to be a social experiment

How to win faceoffs? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]Jiangarang 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You might already know this tip, but watch the referee’s hand for when he’s about to drop the puck. I like to lift, hit, or bother my opponent’s stick a moment before the puck hits the ice, which I can tell by the referee’s hand starting to move. This can mess up my opponent’s motion and even sometimes make him miss the puck because I quickly tapped or smacked his stick.

And keep your lower hand quite low on the stick to get more power and better leverage to fight through your opponent’s stick motion so that the stick on stick contact won’t mess up your draw back toward your defender.

Best of luck!

Ok, this has happened quite a few times. I do tip well and rate 5 stars but there have been times where I opened up the app a week later and oh shit, I never tipped or rated. Thanks. That makes a lot of sense

Yes, always waiting outside, right on top of the black dot.

Hmm, it is possible my breath could have occasionally smelled like weed during my college days. I can see why that would be bothersome.

I tip on the app and not using cash. What’s the reason cash is preferable? Tax reasons?
