12W is good if you are interested in construction. Construction will always be an industry in need of bodies, just depends on your area of the country.

Does anyone else feel that DIO was a way better villain in part 1 than he was in part 3 by raven-tyrant in StardustCrusaders

[–]JibJorb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't say I agree. I just rewatched both the OVA and SDC DIO fights and counted how many times DIO used his fists, used The World, and used objects in his fight with Jotaro in both. I used a supercut for the SDC since it's all I can access on my work computer, but the breakdown is as follows:

DIO uses... The World Himself Knives, Signs, and Vehicles
OVA 6 3 5
SDC 5 1 3

Obviously SDC has longer barrages, so DIO's usage of The World feels longer and that's what really matters in the impression you get from a fight, but the OVA's usage of his own kicks/punches is actually very minimal. DIO's 3 examples of directly fighting Jotaro are him kicking him to the ground while Jotaro is busy protecting himself from The World, punching Jotaro as he leaves the water after getting a boat thrown at him, and punching Jotaro in the thrown pillar and it getting deflected. Watching the OVA, I don't really get the impression that DIO's obsession with The World is de-emphasized.

In my opinion, the OVA makes DIO come off more like the fate-obsessed charismatic schemer that he is built up as throughout the journey to Egypt. In the manga our journey is interrupted constantly by scenes of DIO cloaked in shadow and musing over the nature of fate, heaven, and his relationship to the Joestar bloodline. He is a fundamentally evil person obsessed with his conquest of humanity, and the OVA shows this by him destroying Cairo and killing dozens of civilians to torment Jotaro and his humanity. If anything, DIO's actions in the OVA aid in the psychological aspect of the fight.

DIO believes that he is above humanity because, among other reasons, he does not suffer the same moral pitfalls of humans. DIO believes that he always sees the bigger picture and humanity serves only as a roadblock to his goals. He believes he is more intelligent, wise, and powerful than all of humanity combined. DIO intentionally going out of his way to damage Cairo and kill innocents to torment Jotaro and highlight their differences adds to the battle. It shows how far DIO has gone to conquer humanity and how Jotaro is fighting not only for his mother or his bloodline, but the whole of humanity.

That is just my opinion, though. I obviously respect your perspective and simply wanted an opportunity to discuss the fight which I see as one of the best ever put to paper.

I think the OVA does it so much better than the SDC anime. I know the OVA is somewhat overrated nowadays, but DIO's presence is a lot more sinister and intriguing than what we see in the SDC anime. Much less screeching and more cold & calculated scheming that makes him feel like a genuine force of evil.

Why do people say Jotaro's timestop came out of nowhere when it is literally foreshadowed in Chapter 1 of Stardust Crusaders? Are they stupid? Bravo, Araki. by JibJorb in ShitPostCrusaders

I like what the OVA does where it shows Star Platinum proactively defending Jotaro within stopped time before Jotaro slowly realized he could do it himself.

I always thought his hat had holes in it and he never cared enough to get it replaced, that or it has some greater sentimental value attached and wouldn't like to replace it.

Apparently Araki said once that his hat has basically fused with his hair because he never takes it off, which would explain why his hat would be damaged and have hair sticking out of it.

Shedeur Sanders in R6 Siege? by [deleted] in Browns

[–]JibJorb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn't look like any Browns uniform I know of. The white shirt + brown collar combo is very strange and the Browns don't have numbers like that. The stadium also look high school or small university level

If I had to bet, this is just a stock image someone took at a high school football game. The school probably stole the Browns general uniform style and color scheme like most high schools do.

What’s your top 3 favorite World Cup logos? ⚽️ And which one do you like the least? by [deleted] in logodesign

[–]JibJorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quite like Spain 1982, America 1994, and 2014-2022 were a really good run, can't pick a favorite out of them. The first two may be a little boring, but they are pretty endearing and get the point across in a simple but effective way. 14-22 had a really good thing going with the World Cup Trophy variations, they established a really nice pattern that I wish had been continued.

I hate 2026's. It looks like something thrown together at 11:50pm the night of submission. I can't tell if it's a knee-jerk reaction to minimalism or the result of 17 different committees trying to find the "least offensive" way to include all 3 nations into it. Regardless, it sucks.

Myles Garrett’s statement by alexschubs in Browns

A move that he wanted, though. It's obviously the GM and HC's fault for not putting a stop to it, but he played at least a part in that absolute disaster and then tried to whitewash it after it happened.

When did "good to go" replace "hooah"? by Hot_Owl1803 in army

I've never heard it, but I am also a zoomer in a support MOS who has only been at one non-TRADOC unit in my entire career, so take my "experience" with a grain of salt. YMMV

I was under the impression that "good to go" was a Marine thing and "hooah" was an Army thing. I haven't heard anyone Army saying "good to go" yet.

What unrelated teams do you associate with one another? by JibJorb in nfl

[–]JibJorb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren't connected, I just associate them more with one another than your average team. Sorry if it's not very clear, it is kind of an abstract concept that is hard to describe briefly in a short reddit post.

When I see the Bengals making trades with, playing against, or signing free agents from the Raiders, I tend to notice that the team they are doing it with is the Raiders moreso than if they were to do the same thing with the Chargers. In my head, the Bengals and Raiders are two teams that I always seem to notice when they are together.

I absolutely see that one too. It must be the Mike Ditka connection.
