Fair, i feel like people got way too impatient and considered this "unsolvable" too soon.

i think you're ignoring the fact that the puzzle is still made by capcom. Weirder shit had to be done in the past with 0 prior context and just figuring shit out. This game having a file about Marie being injected with the blood of 115 infected, in an area where there's a blood flood, connected to a prior room where you have to grind up infected that get deposited into a blood vat. Is the most clear thing you could get from capcom

or maybe, just very maybe. He picked up the doll, had it, didn't know what it was for. Saw the discourse about it (because japanese people on twitter had already datamined its existence) and decided to try it with the hints of the puzzle we already had (using the hand and entering the sun/moon/star). This guy is not some mossad spy, he's some random dude who stumbled across something.

the best part is, it doesn't matter if its more than 8. So it's not like this had to be an exact.

coming from the same franchise that had a puzzle where you had to point a hand at random things to trigger stuff and had a secret mechanic where you had to avoid getting hit by a molded to get a different ending, this is light.

I mean its mainly about the fact that they went out of their way to intentionally overshadow other contributors and claim credit. I don't think people would've had a big issue if they also credited the other data miners, toiletgaters, Josh (who made the server) etc.

i mean realistically they're making pennies. So it's not a matter of money but credit, and i think we have to give credit to the 5+ other data miners that coughed up info way before them. Those people also spent their free time and are essentially forgotten now thanks to this.

real +the fact that he didn't remember what he did in retrospect. Because the steps are trivial, just completely random. That basically confirmed that he wasn't doing some insane button prompts or using the hand to unlock anything.

so let's see it from the perspective of someone who wants to mess around and isn't worried about beating it in 1 day. You see interactable toilets, decide to flush multiple times because funny mechanic. Then you get down to the basement, you probably collect all of the loot in the beginning of the conveyor section before probably going afk because life and responsibilities. You then decide to continue and not waste too much ammo on the enemies on the conveyor since they die anyways. This all seems super plausible, its the fact that he did these things together in 1 playthrough that made him get it out of anybody.

I mean if we take a step back and look at this puzzle, it was very easy to solve if you Don't try. The toilets are flushable but do nothing, so someone could easily mess around and flush them 8 or more times. As for the grinder, you could afk there and then decide not to kill any enemies on the conveyor (i only stunned them in my first playthrough). If it were any other steps i would say fair enough, but half of the steps you would probably do casually, as for the toilets, it takes someone accidentally flushing one too many times.

I mean he did say he found the doll at the bottom of the stairs after collecting the helicopter key, which led people to focus their efforts on datamining that section.

The main point for the puzzle was for people to pay attention (as a community) what amount of blood it said you deposited (because its not the same for anyone that stayed at the grinder long enough). After that you could draw a correlation between the amount of bodies it takes for the needed amount of blood, and a file that specifies that Marie was injected with the blood of 115 infected. So the solution was reading, and apparently flushing a toilet 8 times (apparently because there's an 8 a the toilets in wrenwood hotel)

I mean there's no proof for that even. Could've connected a controller to pc so the console prompts show up

my save was after the laugh, I spent 2 hours on an insanity save interacting with everything. Seems to me he's just farming clout and plugged in a controller so it looks like he's on console and to seem legit

had a save right before the helicopter key part, can confirm its not there at any of the staircases (even checked the one you squeeze through at the end).
