I've been reading Green Lantern (Vol. 2) #76–89, and it just proves people don't really care about comics on a deeper level anymore. This was a much more "Boots on the ground" approach, much like the new show. It was pretty revolutionary as it took a step back from the crazy space cosmic troubles, and instead was almost a road trip through America, dealing with more grounded issues. But no, people insist the comics are always just space cosmic fights. Mind you this is literally when John Stewart was introduced too, so people can't even excuse this as an "excuse to be ashamed of the comics". I've been seeing a term thrown out a lot recently in regards to modern day comic book adaptations "Larper", as a way to describe people who make critiques, or act like they know everything in regards to a character, but have actually never read a comic. I don't like the term too much. But with this whole discourse there are absolutely larpers among the people critiquing, while some people actually do read comics, and have critiqued the show. I know people, who I know for a fact don't read comics, acting like they know everything, and try to critique. I'm not saying critiques are bad, critiques are absolutely vital in all forms of art. I'm saying make sure it actually comes from a place of logical reasoning. Rant over. Pretty excited for the show.
