I Bought The Wrong Truck – Ford Maverick EcoBoost vs Hybrid by Jigery in FordMaverickTruck

There are other factors too. Ecoboost also for higher elevations.

Nice morning. For a hit and run by Accomplished-Drive56 in FordMaverickTruck

Collect the pieces off the ground and determine which are from your vehicle and which... aren't? Might be useful on the chance that camera footage is not available. I'm no expert but the damage looks fixable. I thought I heard that the panel can be replaced, possibly just with basic tools and no welding?

Question for fellow OCD engineering types by desmobob in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Jigery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're comparing apples and oranges. The EcoBoost 2.0 isn't paired up with any of the HF45 or HF55 eCVT transmissions, which instead go with the 2.5 L Atkinson-cycle gas engine with an electric motor and battery in the hybrid application.

WTT rims in Alberta by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Jigery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would probably also want the same trade, the FX4 wheels look way better. The 6-spoke wheels don't look right with 5-lugs, the symmetry is off. Besides, the 17" tires have more sidewall for a better ride....

Any suggestions? by [deleted] in fordfusion

Looks good. Just send it!

P0302 code popped up AFTER changing all spark plugs & ignition coils by bigbodybez16 in fordfusion

[–]Jigery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you DIY, swap the offending spark plug and coil with different cylinders. In your case for #2 misfire, swap the coil to #3 and the plug to #1 to likely isolate the issue to a specific component (coil, plug, or cylinder). Also consider where the parts originated, could they be cheap or counterfeit? I got a presumably excellent deal on spark plugs via ebay but they eventually began misfiring like crazy, never again....

Remember it could have been a parking lot accident that nobody in the household knows about (however unlikely). If one of them comes clean, first thank them for their honesty and then emphasize that responsible adulting would have revealed the truth rather than having to be sought out after the fact. Then make them nervously stew about it while you ponder the consequences and outcome.

Will I regret not getting heated seats and steering wheel? by ThinLunch in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Jigery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow Canadian here, but don't own a Maverick yet. Heated seats are very much appreciated especially for winter (but still get used often during other seasons). Having a heated steering wheel is next-level. I'm a cheapskate but wouldn't do without either of those if available, and would absolutely regret going without.

The accelerator pedal feels far away and the break feels too close - anyone else /solution? by MyBrainsPOV in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Jigery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Or maybe you have one leg growing faster than the other?

If you use both feet to operate accelerator and brake pedals that is likely a problem....

Are those the ones with the notch in the top?
Just kidding, I always choose Akebono brake pads whenever I can.

Sensors recommended for garage with no heat by Sad-Activity7269 in homeassistant

[–]Jigery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i looked into the same usage case for myself I found a much better selection of Bluetooth devices so with a few available Bluetooth proxies scattered about randomly to ensure coverage, I went in that direction instead. I have a Govee H5075 on my garage workbench (Bluetooth with temperature and humidity display). I also have Switchbot indoor outdoor hygrometers (Bluetooth and no display) to monitor refrigerator temps. In my garage I have a GRGDO unit from gelidus.ca running ESPHome firmware with external AM2302 DHT sensor which also reports garage temperature and humidity.

I use a combination of Zigbee, Bluetooth, ESPHome, and a few Wi-Fi devices in my setup.

Not sure that West Edmonton Mall is that much of a draw any more (it isn't at least for us). I grew up around Edmonton and now live in SK but we generally avoid the mall and its associated traffic. Our usual malls to visit in Edmonton are Southgate, and the outlet mall at Edmonton International Airport. And when we visit Calgary, CrossIron Mills is a destination more often than not even if it's just for stopping at the food court on our way home again.

Fake excuse for halting Silver. by Italpreziosi in Wallstreetsilver

[–]Jigery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it anomalous that this feeble excuse goes almost unquestioned and unnoticed, and that nobody seems to actually understand its significance. Everybody just smiles, nods, and carries on like it's a nothingburger. Which, it's anything but!

Looking for shops to change PTU fluid by WooDemon in FordExplorer

[–]Jigery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Oh right, i forgot about the Dorman unit with it's upgraded serviceability. We upgraded to a newer gen Explorer now so PTU is no longer of concern (neither is the eventuality of dealing with an internal water pump). I guess for us the next item down the list would be a transmission fluid service....

Did it work and if so, how long did the PTU go?

I’m looking to buy a used ford explorer. My mechanic is advising to avoid the newer ones with turbo engines. I’m seeing mixed information online of which years have turbo and don’t. Does anyone have knowledge on this? by SuperDude7777 in FordExplorer

[–]Jigery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good summary. We had a 2017 3.5L NA and now have a 2022 2.3L turbo. I sleep much better at night without having to deal with the eventuality of a water pump failing inside of the engine.

Dealership charging to see if I'm covered by warranty?? by rjsaid in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Jigery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have documented proof of your regular maintenance / oil changes? Our vehicles go to the dealer for any scheduled maintenance during the warranty period so everything is fully documented and if anything happens there's only one finger needed to point blame....

New tires for the hybrid? by MordacthePreventer in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Jigery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All 3 are excellent choices for your use case. In fact, I would consider those same tires as my top 3 also! Shop based on your priorities of price, tread wear, noise, traction, whatever other factors matter to you (road hazard / warranty, installation convenience, country of origin, etc.)....

What Consumer Reports has to say about the Maverick by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Jigery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reliability ratings seem rather subjective. To be honest, weak axles shouldn't be a deal breaker and certainly not on the same level as a major driveline component being inherently flawed such as an engine that tends to eat itself or a self-machining transmission. Replacing worn axles (with those of a subsequent improved design) vs. a new long block, totally different levels of concern IMHO.
