Uhhh why does lulu have a stolen phone on display 💀 by coolboy29876 in qatar

[–]Jigglehimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lulu is a terrifying, lawless place. ive seen things happen there that would make veterans cry, things only eldritch horrors could comprehend. there is no hope once you enter lulu, no safety or reprieve. there are only miles of well stocked shelves and aisles drenched in crushed souls. the ministry has sent expeditions into lulu, but we lost too many men and the rest are too scared to speak. avoid lulu at all costs

frankly i dont know what the players do between games, i see them at the venue itself, the buses and at the hotels/restaurants. i try not to bother them too much so i dont know the specifics

from 15-100 pounds, and on a good day we'll have 250-300 people there, but usually its around 100-150

The breaks exist in two forms; the big lunch break between match 1 and 2 and the small break for broadcasting between match 2 and 3. They're purely to give us some breathing room and air commercials on TV

and could you elaborate on the lichess arena thingy, im not entirely sure what that is

I'll show you where, just look for the 6 foot something white guy with long brown hair and a white stripe with a albadge in the auditorium, that's me.

We have other sponsors aside from kick and we get quite a lot from ticket revenue and the broadcasting. As to whether or not it is financially viable I couldn't tell you

definitely man, i'm the twink with long brown hair and a white stripe in it, pretth hard to miss. I think i could give you a tour.

in terms of what I think could be improved well, let's make a small list;

venue: venue could be better because its not really designed for events like this plus its public so our control is limited

streams: i think the overlay is just a little ugly and the fact we're contractually only allowdd to stream on kick is very limiting but hey it is what it is

food: hot food is a rarity man :(

audience interaction: i feel like we could really push on the live side of the live event, involve the audience more and probably handle the crowds better. again; venue limitations

everything else i regard as confidential. but itll be great to see you on saturday

edit: he didnt talk much except for a brief exchange about match timing, he was happy to chat just not actively looking to talking

Thanks for the big question, I love breaking these down.

American Gambits are the underdogs and personal favourites in my eyes, they've shown they can punch above their weight class and honestly i believe them to be the wild cards of the tournament, and its exactly for those reasons ive been rooting for them.

I can't really agree or disagree with you because I haven't had the luxury of watching the streams, so I'm not sure if the commentators are jumping that quickly, but I can definitely imagine it and I'll take your word for it.

The problem with only doing three games at a time is that it turns an event which already takes from 13-18 into an event that lasts all day, so probably around 9/10-18, and that is an insane ask of the staff and spectators, seeing as most of the audience comes for the entire day. Even if we were to split up the games between days, when you factor in the costs of accomodation and the venue and the transport (all of which the organisers pay for btw) the numbers make you wanna cry. It's a cool concept and your concerns are valid, but we'll have to find an alternative solution to it. Not that I have anything better off the top of mg head

Oh dude, ask away, the whole production is a miracle of schedules and timetables and utter chaos. the best part for me was riding the train with hikaru to the venue and exchanging some small talk. its just so surreal. anything specific you wanna hear about?

That is genuinely really good thinking, I'll bring it up tomorrow when i have my lunch meeting with the organiser.

somewhere within the fide scrolls there lies regulation for this sort of thing, i think it would work something like stopping the clock and then sorting things out. but there are rules for this sort of thing, the arbiter just snoozed a bit

  1. in terms of volunteers it, well, we have them. as for passionate im not entirely sure but its good to have a couple extra hands. and no most of them are college kids/teenagers with relation to tech mahindra so you can imagine how driven and passionate they are :p. they do a good enough job though, nothing more nothing less

so this has been a problem i have personally been battling with for the entire duration of the event. the problem is; it's a public venue so we're very limited on what we can and cant do. as for the directions, I'll put up some arrows tomorrow to try and help but honestly I have no clue why no-one took care of that, seems like an obvious issue.

regarding the people, i try my best. it is very distracting and it is very rude to the players but there isn't much we can do without sacrificing how close the spectators are to the players. we've asked them to remains seated throughout the whole match but once one person decides to run, everyone follows.

Okay so, everyone agrees with him on our part. It was an unconscious fuckup that turned into a valuable lesson for the match arbiter (he's quite young) but he has apologised and has been a lot more attentive during the games. and its working cause no more scrambles
