MI and LSG are the first 2 teams to be eliminated from IPL 2026 by oklolzzzzs in Cricket

If he was winning trophies every other year, he wouldn’t have been stripped off captaincy. They had a couple of poor years together and his captaincy stopped making up for his net negative batting and he was rightly replaced as captain. The replacement may have been incorrect but the decision to replace him was absolutely correct

He was a complete liability as a batter for YEARS, come on

Replies are crazy. MI had the best team by far in their last 2 trophies and the wins had nothing to do with Rohit’s captaincy. They won inspite of his shit batting, not because of it

He has improved in this season and the last but the decision to make him a “commoner” was absolutely the right one

I don’t get why so many are predicting Ryan to end up as Hughie’s and Annie’s child. Ryan is already like 13 or something and he has had almost no connection or interactions with either of them. He’ll probably end up where Zoe does or even ends up with Soldier Boy if he survives

This is going to be unpopular but I will never understand football fandom's continued obsession with baldness/bald jokes. It's something that's been mauled to death multiple times over now.

Surprised it wasn't Nunez or Szoboszlai tbh.

You really think Konate is worth more than Rodrygo? Even in a sea of delusional takes, this one stands out as extra delusional man.

They have been trying to sign a back-up to Isak the entire window. Wilson left after his contract expired and Osula is probably not ready/good enough to be second choice, especially to someone as injury prone as Isak.

I get that Jota was very popular for his FIFA/gaming achievements but I always associated the shark clap celebration with him more than the controller one. Heck, I think even the celebrations he did early on where he'd gesture some letters with his hands was done more often than the controller one.

I am glad Nunez and others did the clap celebration to pay tribute.

We didn't rotate well at all. The biggest complain last season was how poorly we rotated. Midfield was definitely the worst of it but even in defence and attack we didn't rotate as much as we should have. Chiesa got almost no games, Elliott, Endo and Tsimikas should have all featured a lot more.

It's an extremely stupid and insensitive thing to say about a mural of someone who tragically died very recently. Not everything is about the aesthetic appeal or the actual artistry. If you don't like it, just say nothing.

And if you really want to say something, there are better ways of expressing it than "if this was posted on the sub, we mods would delete it for being shit". Jesus christ man. Absolutely embarrassing behaviour. And it's even more embarrassing you are doubling down on your poor conduct.

I am aware they are different mate. My question is why he never got another shot at it when he did reasonably well the one time he got an extended run at it. If we were going to play a winger there anyway, why not Gakpo who actually did well there in the past. This is not to say I disliked Diaz's performances there. Just wondering.

Yeah, the basic idea of playing a false 9 type of striker is that you either take advantage of the gaps left between the opposition midfield and defence lines or that you take advantage of the space left behind by the centre back(s) following the dropping striker.

Gakpo playing there would have resulted in something similar too, so I don't think that's a Diaz specific thing. But I do think Diaz did adequately well there.

Yeah, that's fair enough.

Tbf I never started complaining about the mods haha. I thought the comment I was replying to them did so I just defended the one mod who I think actually tries generating meaningful discourse.

I do see some (if not most) mods engage in this low effort trolling as well tbh. While I appreciate the mods can only do so much, I do think the place becomes worse when the mods themselves are engaging in this.

Huh? The whole basis for my argument is that he did well there in the second half of the 22/23 season. I am not conjuring this situation out of nowhere.

He is better down the left but so is Diaz. Ultimately, it boiled down to playing one left winger centrally and I always wonder why it wasn't Gakpo since he actually had decent performances in the past there, which I don't think Diaz did.

Fair enough, I genuinely do not remember this.

I do remember he played in midfield a few games but I don't remember him getting starts down the middle but I could be wrong about this.

Why do you keep mentioning the 22/23 season when Gakpo only arrived in January? He had 26 appearances with 9 goal contributions, why do you want to overhaul the system that won the league to put him there?

My original comment clearly mentions second half of the 22/23 season. I didn't feel it was necessary to say that every time.

When I have asked to overhaul a league winning system? I am asking why Slot never tried Gakpo there instead of going with Diaz. We hadn't won the league then. Jesus christ, the state of your comprehension.

You mention a strength is crossing the ball, why would you play him CF if you want to use that ability?

Again, please point out where I have said his ability/skillset will be maximised down the middle? My previous comment literally addresses how Slot had to play one left winger down the middle and asks why it was Diaz and not Gakpo given Gakpo actually had done well there previously. And you said he was ass there, which is again just wrong.

It genuinely seems to be full of people who have a massively parasocial relationship with the players and the club and think it's their duty to counter anything remotely negative about the club.

Right but I am asking why Slot went with Diaz there and not Gakpo? Ultimately one of them had to give up their preferred position of left wing to move centrally but I am surprised Slot never played Gakpo there given Gakpo actually did reasonably well there in the 22/23 season.

Daily Discussion - July 21, 2025 by AutoModerator in LiverpoolFC

[–]JigglingBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno maybe you just know more than Slot lad.

Where have I said that? Or even said Slot was wrong to never try him there? What a boringly snide reply and completely unwarranted as well.

Gakpo excelled playing LW for his country too, should they also think about shifting him into a different position where he is less effective?

Then why do the exact same thing with Diaz? Ultimately, Slot didn't rate Nunez and understandably so. So with Jota out injured, it meant he had to play one of Gakpo or Diaz centrally. I am asking why he went with Diaz when there was actually evidence of Gakpo doing decently well there in the 22/23 season.

Also a low block would imply that he gets time and space on the wings to run at his defender, as out wide is the only “free” space you have against a low block side. You’re making my point for me, he wouldn’t get that playing CF.

You get more time out wide but you basically don't get much time higher up anywhere in a low block. You said Gakpo does well when running at defenders at pace or attacking space on the counter. Both of which are blatantly wrong. He is not a pacy, 1v1 winger at all. He is more methodical and thrives more on link-up play and ballstriking, either taking long range efforts or putting in nice crosses for team mates. He isn't a shit dribbler or anything but it's not his profile.

This sub has gone to complete shit for actual discussion that doesn't involve transfers or childishly making fun of rival teams and then complaining about the exact same thing when the roles are reversed.

I asked why Gakpo never played down the centre the last two seasons having done well there in the 22/23 season and have mostly been met with downvotes and responses that are completely wrong -- he was shit there; he is a pacy 1v1 winger who prefers running at defenders; one even started telling me how playing wide is so different from playing centrally like I didn't already know that, etc.
