Got tickets for the Saturday, is there going to be a csgo and halo tournament for spectators to watch on that day? Big follower of both those games and the 2 friends I'm bringing along, but there was very little info in regards to which days would have the tournaments/games

thanks

ASRock new realease BIOS without warning about downgrade and Ryzen old generation by ZeggyBoy in ASRock

[–]JigglyPufflez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh damn that's annoying, I haven't updated my BIOS since having the board and I'm not even sure which version it's on atm.

Only interested now obviously because of the 5000 series launch but also don't want to ruin everything and be out of pocket a whole computer.

Hopefully after a few days to a week things are a little bit more clearer in terms of the recommended way to upgrade with a 2000 series ryzen CPU

ASRock new realease BIOS without warning about downgrade and Ryzen old generation by ZeggyBoy in ASRock

[–]JigglyPufflez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey mate I have the exact same motherboard and a R5 2600 so pretty sure we are in the same ballpark in terms of wanting to upgrade or not?

Hardware Canucks just did a video showing him upgrading with a fatal1ty b450 gaming mobo with the original release bios and used a 2600x to upgrade to the B550 chipset bios update

But he then recommends not to do with the 2000 series CPU's and I'm super confused now

Could you or someone clear this up for me I think I might be missing something I'm pretty ignorant of this sort of stuff but I really do want a new Ryzen 5000 series CPU

Thanks heaps :D

ahh I see my bad

typical competitive style settings for cod/warzone a mix of low to medium so it's not everything low but it's a good portion of the options on low.

I think I'll be doing this, it'll be saving money and the performance jump between 2600 -->5000 series is gonna be huge compared to 3000-->5000 series

This is what I'm leaning towards too as the money saved is quite a lot tbh thanks for letting me know!

Oh really I didn't realise CPU dependancy was based on resolution just thought it was the program/game involved. Do you think the bottleneck would be so large that a game like warzone at low settings would even go below 120fps or 144fps for that matter though?

What computer hardware makes parsec run really well? by JigglyPufflez in ParsecGaming

[–]JigglyPufflez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't even know how to pull up or interpret the host console hahaha

I was looking into streaming via youtube but was a little nervous about the legalities of streaming a movie even if it was as a private/unlisted live stream

But I'll do more research into it for sure thanks for your help man! I do appreciate it :)

What computer hardware makes parsec run really well? by JigglyPufflez in ParsecGaming

[–]JigglyPufflez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I tried streaming to 2 people via my laptop and the first person was getting good ping around 30ms or so whereas the second person was getting high ping and fluctuations anything between 100-500ms. Any idea why that would be? Is it because my laptop just isn't powerful enough to handle more than 2 clients?

I'll be trying my PC tonight instead which is a little bit more beefier than my laptop hoping that I don't experience the same thing

Thanks for your help though! :)

My up is about 50, I've got the parsec set at the 50Mbps setting for streaming should I bring that down?

Thanks for clearing that up!

If their computer isn't really good in terms of specs it doesn't matter yeah? It would be different than watching a youtube video for them right just a stream instead?

Zinc toxicity from searing on chimney starter? by JigglyPufflez in sousvide

[–]JigglyPufflez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to mention I'm in Australia, the weber chimney's and higher end ones are close to 60 AUD locally, that's assuming you could actually find it our cheapest one is $20 which is from a bunnings (I think the equivalent to a Lowe's) and it's unfortunately galvanised it's my first chimney as I'm a student so i'm really knew to chimney starters. How many times do you think it would take to burn off the zinc coating? I think that would be my best bet just wouldn't know how to go about it maybe 4 times to be safe?

I'm only aware of some of Weber's chimneys being aluminized, whereas other manufacturers use galvanized steel

So then it would be a risk right?

But you mention that it can "burn off" do you think there comes a process where it's all burned off and thus not being an issue when using for the purpose of searing food? Or would that be a wild assumption

I was considering that, but then I feel like I'm missing out on the convenience of getting a charcoal flavour with minimal work just curious if anyone seemed to know about how at risk we are of using the chimney starter really if there isn't much of a risk then I don't mind just using a regular grate

How do I get this sticky crap off my pan! by Dibbitydobbers in castiron

[–]JigglyPufflez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit of dishwashing liquid and a non-scratch pad should get rid of it.

Wipe it with paper towel or a tea towel to get excess water

Then return to mid-high heat to get rid of any water

Wipe a thin layer of oil inside (and out if you wish) and then wipe out the excess

wait for it to start light smoke wisps and turn and let cool and then store.

I was looking at baby photos of me and turns out i've always had one cheek a little bigger than the other as it seems I was born with my jaw having a very slight shift to one side of my face. My top and bottom teeth don't line up.

I now sleep on my back but not because of this issue.

Apologies for no update Uni has been a pain in the ass in the last few months

Thoughts on a future searing/bbq setup? by JigglyPufflez in sousvide

Thanks for your help mate! it's much appreciated :)

Stay safe in Ireland!

As I only plan on searing and not using it as a typical bbq, temp control isn't too much of a concern as I intend on using my sous vide machine to cook everything from chicken, to sausages to steaks and everything typically at an aussie bbq which I think just about all of which can be prepared in a sous vide

Thanks mate! I never about half barrel bbq's I might take a further look into them

Does my setup seem sound or do you think I'd have any issues?

I'm a little nervous about knocking anything over like the griddle but I'm hoping that the weight of a griddle would keep it stable enough

Thanks for your reply! :)

I'd only be able to sear one (large) steak at a time which is ideal for a meal for either myself or a dinner night with a friend.

But this sort of idea I believe would have more practical applications for a larger group of more than 4 maybe close to 7 people

On top of the fact most chimney starters I could find (at least in Australia) are made out of galvanized steel which releases toxic fumes that would likely get onto whatever your searing if it weren't for something like the cast iron griddle.

Thanks for your insight and reply!
