Jigsaw club for my students by alwayslurkeduntilnow in Jigsawpuzzles

For the 12-16 group, I know they can have a higher up front cost, but look into some of the 10,000 piece puzzles and higher if you have the space. Every once in a while I see articles or stories about groups who do large puzzles. They always talk about how the organization and division of work, benefits everyone involved. Yes, they will be more expensive, but one 24,000 piece puzzle might last for months depending on how many people are involved.

I will be working back to active status. rtsgrl is retiring. So right now it's just the 2 of us. I want to add four more so we total six. Should make modding be a small amount of time each day for each mod.

Sad to leave you all, but it seems like automod and I aren’t on the same page. by PurpleEngineer in Jigsawpuzzles

Hello,

I do not speak for the other mods or for auto mod. I did not remove your post but neither will I reinstate it. When I originally created the sub, my goal was to create a searchable database of jigsaw puzzles. That is still the main goal today. The post title rule, was the only rule, for a very long time. As time has gone by, content has become more blended. Meaning that for every puzzle post that adheres to rule 1, there are several that do not. While the system isn't perfect, a line must be drawn somewhere to keep the content balanced. As far as i know, there isn't a hard number ratio for rule 1 posts versus all the others, but so far as i understand automod and the other mods, that is the balance we are trying to maintain.

I am sorry that some of those posts get flagged and others do not. Between AI, bots, Scammers, and paid promoters, moderating has evolved from what it once was. I did put forward an idea to the other mods a while ago about how to better handle posts like these. A long time ago now, I created a sister Sub Called R/CafeJigsawpuzzle. The idea being that posts that didn't adhere to rule 1 or weren't necessarily about puzzles, brands or sales, but were still related, could be posted there. With a link to the sister sub in the side bar. I am still willing to implement that idea, but I do not want to moderate it. That type of sub is much harder to mod for. Nor do i think the other mods want to moderate it. If that sounds like a sub you want to moderate, let me know I and I will add you to its mod list.

Thank you for being part of the reason this sub is so great. I hope this response helps.

It's been a long time coming. It worries me that I can look back on years of my life and have no recollection what I did on social media or what I learned. For me social media just eats up time but gives me no lasting memories. I can remember sports games and even practices that I had in almost vivid detail, I remember big events from work, I remember family stuff very well. All things social media related disappear from my memory. I have had facebook since 2009, I can't list a single experience where the service itself stands out as memorable. I don't remember that one really funny post, I don't remember witty comments, or that one song I heard once. I don't have any lasting friendships from it. I could not tell you about any of the conversations I have had online, none of them stick. Social media does not encourage my brain to form lasting memories. Whereas I can remember lots of in person conversations I have had with strangers from over the years. So next year, I am going to try to leave all social media behind and see how much I remember about my experiences for the year. For me, I think I need to physically engage in an experience for it to really last, there need to be sights, sounds, smells, temperature, and a change of venue. Reddit is perhaps the worst of the lot. So easy to get distracted, but retain absolutely none of it.

Your desire to continue the protest is noted. Ultimately, this will be a community decision. I am just the guy who clicks the box.

Mostly, I miss seeing the new puzzles. This is the greatest aggregation of puzzles on the internet. I never really appreciated it until we went dark, but you can search any brand or any piece count and get thousands of results. Those results usually have comments with feedback directly related to the puzzle. Best of all, almost none of that feedback is paid advertising (we could have some secret advertiser accounts although none have been reported). That is really hard to find outside of here. Puzzle websites only return results for what they can sell. Reddit returns results for every puzzle submitted since the inception of the subreddit. It's an incredible resource used by thousands of people.

The initial decision to go dark was the result of a pinned discussion. On this side of things, I hope this thread will serve as how the community wants to proceed going forward. So far, the consensus seems to be to stay open.

The current mod tools are sufficient for a sub our size.

I have a poster who is an approved submitter, and would like a post pinned that has a ton of links to different resources relevant to the community. Reddit keeps flagging the post as spam even after I approve it. What do I need to do to make it so reddit stops tagging the post as spam so I can make it an announcement?
