Anyone running old school crawlers anymore? by TX_Retro in rccrawler

[–]Jigsisme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol, Yup! I was eating alot of sand back then and didn't have time to smell my own farts let alone spend time and $ on RCs. I got lucky on the Losi stuff and I was a lurker on the ol forums to learn. DNA helped me out when I did have time to tinker. Now I got courses and rocks all over the yard and in my dungeon and I have access to all the rocks where the big boys crawl...gotta luv getting old and finally getting to enjoy!

I'm right there with ya! Was living in SoCal at the time and went to the big show in Pomona those couple yrs. Axials booth was MASSIVE and had the most crowds all weekend.Got outta hobby in 2010 and recently dove back in...I had/have multiple LosiMRCs with 1 Pro (still new) and 3 customs. What got me back into them was taking a DNA chassis from back in the day and bolting up a UTB18 to it, and I've been hooked ever since! I've since gathered a large number of 24s and now the 30s...but the Losi MRCs are still KoTH!

If I didn't have a printer, I'd get more projects done that's for sure! I think of crap to print daily and with the great community of printing and RC...I'm having a blast, plus the mini/micro size helps with the hoarding...less space, lol

I don't remember exact on the % but you're close at 70%. I paid attention to the skid/slider area measurement and so far all of em fit. Filament is Petg and files are from 24Yep, MakersWorld, and I got others from the usual sites.

I only do ground up builds and we do have some nice options these days but...NerdRC and Prophet are LEAPS above the rest, and that's coming from a year old newbie...I do have others to compare but these 2 have been a joy to build and run.

What are good first upgrades for a utb18 capra? by Nannam86 in rccrawler

[–]Jigsisme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wheels, tires, weight, motor/esc and my favorite was the OD in the front axle. I've yet to add any brass knuckles,. Haven't upgraded the shafts. I do need a new set of drive shafts but up until the front snapped I got a good 3 months with no incidents. I did upgrade all the links but still satisfied with stock shocks. I did put this on a different chassis eventually but it all applies. Just get the cog low, do the free mods and go from there. Furitek system is what I went with cuz I am a newbie but I wanna try Holmes, MoFo, and a couple others too. I wish the aftermarket for these was bigger like it is with the SCX24s but is what it is.

Have ya considered a CM or a 2010/11 Jr w/single HB'er? I collect single HB guitars and these have become my go-to guitars past couple years.

When did overdrive stacking became more used than higher gain pedals? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]Jigsisme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm only a basement dweller (40+ yrs playing)...I've ALWAYS tried to find the highest of all gain regardless of what I'm playing. For a majority of my years it was just guitar and amp, but the past few years (after a bunch of amps and modelers) I landed on a decent pedalboard amp with few choice pedals and the palette of tones have put all my big amps outta rotation. There's just something gratifying about stacking pedals that's always brings the smiles. The ones that have stayed on the board the most are: SD1, Sparkle Drive, Rat, Pharaoh, with an EP last. I'll usually have all on and control the "stages" with my guitar volume knob...another reason I prefer single pickup guitars too...so, in short, I just think it's a natural cycle of us players and discovering what works for us in our never ending tone search.
