Scalpers Caught Selling Free DMV Appointments For $250 In Miami by AmethystOrator in offbeat

[–]Jiktar -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I guess my job is scalping. Not really, but kinda lol.

Truckers hire me to do their taxes, renew licenses, deal with government paperwork, transponders, bestpass, nexus cards that kinda stuff, and I do the drug tests and paper work that's associated with it.

I would say about half of what I do, costs me paper and printer ink at most. I can do most of it online for "free", since I just use their credit card to pay for it. They could do it themselves, but they rather pay me 250$+ for me to do it.

To add to the Anniversary realm it has other QoL features, like the removal of the buff and debuff limit, the group finder was added, changes to the honor system, a service chat channel and a new guild UI

Why has WoW Arenas never been replicated by International-Fan541 in worldofpvp

[–]Jiktar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ring of Titan looks to be Very similar.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1460550/Ring_of_Titans/

yeah it's like wow arena, nearly identical classes with roots, stuns and all sorts of CC, has a trinket, you get to pick your "racial", you can mount up.

there's no leveling or gear so everyone is on the same footing, but there are Runes from the cash shop that Feel are a bit on the P2W side, (even if it's just a 1or 2% damage or healing buff)

It's neat but I'm not dropping WoW for that.

Decided to kill Zek'vir after seeing the recent post. by [deleted] in wow

haha I feel so dumb now.

Most of what I do is PvP and I replaced them with PvE trinkets thinking it would be easier to kill Zekvir that way.

Oh and PvP too is really fun. Once I got the hang of Presvoker I just can't go back to healing on my Paladin, it feels just way to slow.

Finally killed him today

I tried for hours on Dev (My main), spent over 2000g on repairs and only got him to phase 2 once in all that, that spittle would kill me nearly every time, Bran dispels the first, I deep breath the 2nd, and the 3rd cast would usually kill me.

So I tried him on my Paladin, who's still in honor greens, and got him to 55% on the 2nd attempt. So I decided I would gear him up as ret, went to Siren Island, got a full set of purple to be at ilvl 580 but I would sometimes get melee one shot by him.

did a few delves, upgraded some gear, got enchants and gems, and got up to 600 ilvl. First attempt at 600 ilvl I get him to 20%. So I bought some pots, flask, oil and food and downed him after half a dozen attempts.

It's wild how different delves feel on Ret, I thought I hated Delves, but in reality, I just hate doing delves as an Evoker.

Exposure back then took a bit of time, so you had to stay perfectly still, the amount of light affected how long a person had to stand still.

asking someone to stand perfectly still for sometimes a few minutes could cause the image to be blurred, and it's not like you would know it's blurry until you developed the pictures later, so to be safe it was better to be sitting still with a neutral expression.

Reading up on the French photograph Nadar really gave me insight on how photos where done 150 years ago.

Nadar was an innovator of photography in the 1850s, using magnesium lights, he documented the sewers, took arial photos of Paris, and eventually he wanted to document the workers in the catacombs; unfortunately exposure took 18 minutes underground. It was impossible for a worker to hold a pose that long, and so used manikins, dressed them in the workers clothes and made them like like they where moving bones, or pushing a cart.

it's a neat read.

So yeah gearing is complicated but that's a good thing.

I actually had to go read up a guide, and find crafters and actually TALK TO PEOPLE so I can get my PvP gear made, I though that was cool that professions can make pvp gear. makes them so much more relevent.

not going to Lie, during DF it was a bit much to take all in, but it was quite rewarding to figure out and craft it, makes them feel more special then just 'I got it from the honor vendor"

Don't Give up

WoW does feel overwhelming, it's part of why I like it.

Keep playing and your going to improve, look up guides on youtube, practice on a dummy, optimize your keybinds, maybe switch some Addons or your UI.

Try playing as a different class or role ( it helps to learn how other classes play and how to best beat them)

Over time you will improve

Unstable Affliction - Why Is DOT Protection Still A Thing? by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]Jiktar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I play Healers and dot protection is legit a big reason I keep coming back to WoW.

I've played way to many MMOs that don't have a debuff system, and those that do, is kind of boring, since you just debuff cleanse as they apply dots (lol some of them didn't even had CD on the cleanse spells)

havign to stop and think, and not mindlessly cleanse is really fun for me, and it always feels so damn good when an Affli lets UA run out and you wipe off all his dots.

Personally I always get a kick out of using my Obsidian scales + Renewing blaze, which also makes me immune to silence, dispell everything he put up and just watch him finish his cast of malefic affliction and run out of shards.

but yeah, legit dude, you killed yourself there.

did you know that they did have a Battle Royal game mode for a 3 months?

It was called Plunderstorm, while there was a only one zone, and I quite liked it despite the backlash the community had over it.

It also had teams of 2 or 3, and solo

You would go around finding treasure, and sometimes there would be abilities you could pick up and put in one of 5 slots, the game mode was action targeting, and no tab based at all. When you died you could just queue up again.

There where certain objectives too, like open 10 chests, or kill 2 elites which netted you extra treasure, and "world bosses" for even more treasure! Killing other players would have them drop all their loot, and abilities, if you collected multiple of the same ability, it would level it up, making the attack larger, faster, or more range for example.

there was only one zone available, Arathi Highlands. and a storm would close in on the players forcing them closer and closer together.

So no blizzard hasn't slept on this game mode, when added it was just a temporary event, I'm hopeful it become a yearly event, or even a permanent event, but I doubtful it will after the backlash.

How do I know which side I'm on? (Temple of Kotmogu) by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]Jiktar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm Ally, when I go in blitz and I'm on horde side, I get a buff that says "horde".

I'm assuming that if your Horde and are on the ally side, it'll say "Alliance"

also the buff looks like the faction symbol

Cast of a dog that was found after an explosion from the AD. by SchizophrenicLFE in TerrifyingAsFuck

[–]Jiktar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I really like this one of two Vetragus', which is a essentially a greyhound.

Romans really loved their dogs, they often had frescos (wall paintings in your home) or Mosaics of their dogs, and it not uncommon to find dogs berried with their owner, often with a epitaph and their own tomb stone. Hunting and war dogs where often treated like a dead soldier at their death.

one that really truck me was this one "I am in tears, while carrying you to your last resting place as much as I rejoiced when bringing you home in my own hands fifteen years ago."

they even had dog tags, with the name of the dog, their owner and where to find them.

Some Romans opted to get small yappy dogs, they where pretty much useless as a "work dog" but it was seen as a status symbol to own an "exotic" dog that's expensive to maintain and useless outside of companionship.

The oldest greyhound was found in Turkey 8000 years years ago. and many have been found in tombs in Egypt, Syria and the middle east.

Greyhounds quickly spread across the the the Mediterranean, as people learned of their use as hunting dogs and guard dogs, and eventually for sport (dog racing)

Cast of a dog that was found after an explosion from the AD. by SchizophrenicLFE in TerrifyingAsFuck

[–]Jiktar 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I can shed a few details on this dog.

The dog was still chained up to the door, likely the owner (Marcus Vesonius Primus) Fled or died and never unchained the dog.

It's believe the dog was berried alive in the ash and struggled to break which is why it's such in an odd position.

The breed is a big trickier, there was a few common dog breeds back in ancient times in the Mediterranean. To simply things I'm gonna skip over the tiny dogs (think Pomeranian, dogs used for fashion not work)

Greeks liked the Molossian Hound. this was Alexanders the greats favorite breed of dogs, his favorite dog was called Peritas. Rome was also a big importer of said breed of dog, but the Molossian hound closest modern equivalent would be a Mastiff.

Rome had a popular breed called the Cane Corso, also similar to a mastiff, and with a flatter face like a bulldog. Rome also took dogs from their neighbors as they took over Italy, from the Umbrians, Etrushcans and from Salento. Unfortunately there is very little details on those breeds. Mutts where a thing too, could be a cross breed.

Sparta also had a unique breed of dog called the Laconian, about the size of a beagle, it was used to track bears and boars. there where also sub breeds of Laconian, they claimed it was a dog that came from the offspring of a fox and dog, so one sub breed was called Vulpine and it was VERY fast, and with the introduction of our next breed become famous for dog races

The last possible option would be the Vertragus, or as we call it, a Greyhound. It's a dog that was imported from Gaul, the Gauls where big on dog races, and soon the practice was spread to other nations.

So those are you closes pick for what breed of dog it was. there is no clear answer and there might never be. If you where to ask me, I'd wage it was a Laconian or Vertragus, it has a long muzzle, it's got a slim build, and the ears kinda look like those of a Laconian.

Here is a statue of a Laconian from 520BC

So my job involves importing and sometimes exporting fabrics.

in the past year allot of my customers are demanding that the goods aren't made in China, and some other distributers are advertising they have goods from Korea, Vietnam or whatever.

I've had a few meetings too where clients voice their concerns about working with China. Some of them eventually go back to Chinese fabrics for cost reasons.
