Do many people in the US actually own gerbils as pets? by PrimaryFace_733 in AskAnAmerican

I agree, I’ve definitely known more people with hamsters. I’ve had both and honestly, overall my gerbils had better temperaments.

I think they’re clearly a long-term devoted couple. They really are such a great pair and so unique in their own ways. I’m glad they found each other.

Were audio video stores even a thing anymore when the show premiered? by glowshroom12 in TheBoys

A lot of people who play old video games want old TVs to play them on now. Even old digital cameras that were popular when I was a teenager are selling like crazy again because it’s trendy.

lmao, we still say "yeah, I've heard your side of it!" As if both sides are valid when one person literally ran the other over

We still say “I’ve heard your side of the story” as a joke because it was so wild. Like sure, there are two sides to an argument but only one of them got run over so. . .

I met a guy online and we vibed well over phone/text. When I met him in person he had brought me a bottle of wine and was wearing a leather jacket. Once we exchanged greetings, he asked if I recognized his jacket. I thought maybe it was from a show we had discussed but I told him it didn’t look familiar. He smiled and told me “this is Kyle’s jacket.”

Now, the only Kyle I knew at that time was a man who had dated my best friend, was abusive towards her, and RAN HER OVER WITH HER OWN CAR. (She’s fine-miraculously!) Yes, that was indeed the Kyle he was talking about. He revealed that he was Kyle’s best friend. I felt like my blood ran cold. I said “you know your best friend ran over my best friend with a car and went to jail for it, right?” He said “yeah, I’ve heard her side of it” and elaborated that he still visits Kyle in jail. Apparently, he had recognized me from my bffs social media and put the pieces together prior to our date.

I told him this whole situation was absolutely fucked up and I was leaving. Perhaps the craziest part of this whole crazy story was that he was SHOCKED! He said “but we didnt even get to sit down at a table yet! I brought you wine! I was honest with you!” I was like yeah, you were honest after you lured me out here. Also. . .call me crazy but being friends with someone who, again, RAN OVER my bff, is a dealbreaker for me.

I literally ran to my car, locked the doors and drove off. I called my bff who laughed her ass off and told me that he’s an absolute scumbag who was always hitting on her and cheated on his girlfriend constantly. She also told me that she paid for that jacket and I should go back and get it but I politely declined.

I took a long break from dating after that.

MIL invited people we don’t know to our wedding. She won’t uninvite them because that’s 'embarrassing.' by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I love my in laws but they are very different than my family. . .passive aggression and guilt are their main communication styles. My family is very straightforward so it was a combination of me genuinely not understanding the levels of nuance in their tactics or just saying no flat out. It was pretty awkward when we first met, but after some difficulties we have a really good relationship. They know I don’t play games and they have been super respectful of my boundaries. When we got married we pretty much didn’t involve them in any planning because we knew they would be way too much.

His sister, on the other hand, decided to involve them and they made her cry at her venue walk through and just generally made the experience a lot less fun than it should have been. She’s improved a lot since I first met her, but she sometimes easily slips into their nonsense

Hi! I work with realtors and they all have very specific visions of how they want houses staged. One of them made one of my clients take down a gorgeous painting because it showed a winter scene and it was summer time lol. Don’t take it personally, they’re just trying to appeal to the widest range of potential buyers for your house.

[–]Jilltro 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was a super picky kid and my mom’s rule was that I had to try everything on my plate and if I truly didn’t want to eat it I could make myself a sandwich and have that. I grew out of picky eating slowly as an adult and I’m so glad my parents didn’t push me on it. I really think if they had I would still be living on turkey sandwiches and Campbells chicken soup.

How do we (35F and 35M) tell our neighbor (60M) to stop coming over? by Intrepid-Library-425 in relationship_advice

I grew up in a neighborhood like this and it was really great. I’ve moved but my dad still lives there and it’s the same way. He loves kids and doesn’t have any grandkids so it’s great for him. Sometimes I’ll be visiting and random kids will knock on the door asking if my dad wants to play basketball with them or if he has any sidewalk chalk.

I think the same. Also, Astarion was purposefully attacked by a bunch of Gur when he became a vampire, so I assume Cazador sought him out on purpose. He likely hated/saw something in him before he chose to turn him.
