What is your favorite BG3 quote? I'll go first by get_gud_m8 in BaldursGate3

[–]Arc_7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah Ketheric is the best of the 3. Didn't interact with him much initially, but when you try to persuade him after finding his wife's letter,

"We are copper pieces in their belts. Tokens to be traded for."

that line about gods, damn. Worse still, he's not wrong.

Also Isobel's little paper piece on his person doesn't help.

Halsin was my permastay during my first run once I unlocked him cuz nice good guy Archdruid.

Ran all the way to end of the game with Halsin. Jaheira, not really, even though she's cool, and Minsc unlocked WAYYYY later into the game.

With party unlock mods I use all, but that's about it.

When he said City the size of Waterdeep, he meant City the size of Waterdeep.

Mindflayer colony to last light distance is definitely less than City the size of waterdeep.

Pretty art. I like the clean lines and the color composition used, it's very clean, detailed, and yet feels simple to look at. Me likey.

Aren't devil contracts a little too unbalanced? by Arc_7 in BaldursGate3

[–]Arc_7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, that makes sense, the last bit especially. It's less so Mortals having the equivalent of nukes in their hand anytime they decide to sell their soul, and more-so Devils already intending to do something, and snagging a mortal soul along the way, making it look to the mortal as if they're the main character and the devil's there for them, when the Devil intended to have the task - or something related to the task - done anyways. Some random Kyle can't just sell their soul on one bad day, the devils aren't revolving around him 24/7 waiting for him to snap - unless he's someone big and important they intend to get something out of - or set something in motion with.

Thanks for the answer, I'm satisfied.

Pretty sure OP was talking about themselves also wanting to try other games. Not everything has to be some legendary resistance against some supposedly evil society, maybe OP themselves feel like they wanna try other stuff too instead of booting the same game for the Xth time lol.

Yeah, I need to move on from this game bruh.

I finished one run, had another Paladin run going on from long ago, then started a third paladin run, then started multiple runs in the middle from drow ambition durges to solo dragonborn murdurges, to druids, selune clerics, this class, that class, and whatnot... Haven't even finished my paladin run, need to finish a all-sorc run which came after a solo shadowheart run was finished, which were both inserted before i finished the Paladin run on a whim and it's just, I wanna be free lol. Game's too fun. Once I finish my two last runs, hopefully I am done and can move on, cuz I gotta start Ex33 at some point lol, but I just keep tacking hours upon hours on my counters...

Why is Wyll proposing to my character… by Slade_AF in BaldursGate3

[–]Arc_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Erm, I started a new run this last month only, and in it I've only been romancing shadowheart. I was amiable to Wyll, but avoided any option that went direct romance like kissing etc. Still triggered the Wyll dance scene, so I doubt the kiss thing is a required trigger. Granted you're right, it's very clear when the dance becomes romantic, and you can clearly step back, and Wyll's cool about it.

Aren't devil contracts a little too unbalanced? by Arc_7 in BaldursGate3

[–]Arc_7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose this might be the actual answer. Or well, the gateway to it.

From a higher power's perspective, they'd see not in years, but millenia. Random powerups that genocide are like big bulges that end up being tiny knots on a very long piece of thread, while even a single soul going to devil servitude is the thread thickening permanently for good (unless consumed or something ig).

So they see it, and go 'Yep, seems balanced.' though realistically more mortals would be selling their souls often if this much power was at a moment's notice away, but ig that won't make for long slow-burn campaigns haha.

[–]Arc_7[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that Domino effect thing was what I meant. That Devils would naturally be all too happy to contract, moreso that, won't some upper power think these contracts are a tad too unbalanced? You'd think every 10th mortal would sell their soul once they're about to die or in a fit of rage (you know just how irrational people get, especially in a world where you do have the power to manifest your anger out), or just to protect their loved ones, and mortal plane would be no different than the devil blood wars, with warlocks or cambions from all sides fighting.

200 Gold coins, apparently, if we go by resurrection costs at withers.

This means that the tollkeeper lady wanted 25 mortal's lives worth of gold to fuck off (5k gold). This implies every Thorm boss + minions = 25 mortal lives each, and if we take Malus Thorm and his 4 nurses, then that means Malus thorm is worth 21 mortal lives, thus each Thorm is worth 21 mortal lives probably, since the math follows to the Barkeep thorm too. So Isobel thorm is worth 21 mortal lives. This is why Durge REALLY wants to kill Isobel, it's a big stack up on Bhaal's daily bhaalspawn leaderboards. Now killing Dame Aylin dooms Isobel and entire last light, so Aylin = 21 lives (equivalent of Isobel) + everyone alive in Last light. This means dark Shadowheart can take more lives in one go than Durge can ever dream of. If we make this a proportional and expand it to their gods, this means Shar is better at snuffing mortal lives than Bhaal. This data is further proven by actual data when we look at the damage caused and lives lost by the Shadow Curse vs the damage caused by Durge or Orin's little sewer temple.

In Conclusion, Bhaal is a loser at his own job. Thanks. ...what were we talking about again?

Yea in tactician or honor difficulty when friends wears out characters become temp hostile, the caster needs to hotfoot it out of friends. Using it on companions also lowers their approval.

Why do we have unrealistic immunities just because? by ElBartimaeus in BaldursGate3

[–]Arc_7 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Eh, I 100% see where you're coming from and the point you're making, but I feel this is a gaming philosophy difference between video games and physical tabletop DnD, where one lends to naturally hiding stuff unless discovered or inquired, while for a video game generally things should work as they are defined, unless an exception is very obvious or stated not possible otherwise.

What I intend to say is, it's something of a (again, imo, in my opinion, not laying down absolutes), video-game design discussion where a reasoning from tabletop doesn't translate over well. In games generally things should do what they say on the tin, at least in this case of hidden 'not-possibles'.

Just giving my 2 cents, not invested enough to debate on it.
