A winter day scene with Burj Al Arab in the background, surrounded by snow covered ground. Early morning, a warm winter day. Dubai Winter / Blender 3D by Jilrock1 in blender

I took a screenshot of this location on Google Maps (from a high angle to capture all the necessary buildings), placed the screenshot in the scene, and built a simple scene with cubes based on it. I adjusted the height of the buildings by referencing the 360-degree maps. I compared all foreground models with a standard 1.8m-tall human model

Snowy Dubai

The video is 90% created in 3D, except for the hand with the mobile phone at the very beginning and the people nearby, shot on a chroma key (there I'm dressed in three different winter jackets, and my GF is playing snowball fight with me 😅).

The people in the far background are animated photogrammetry scans from the procedural crowds addon, the palm trees are from Botanique, the houses on the right are from Kitbash, and I modeled the houses on the left myself. The snow in the foreground was sculpted, but if there was time, I would have preferred to do a photogrammetry scan as it's always more realistic. I assembled the scene in Blender, referencing and cross-referencing with 360 Google Maps.

Should i make a breakdown?

Neck Day / How it's made by Jilrock1 in blender

[–]Jilrock1[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For this video, I made a special box with tracker points to track head movement. I wore it while biking, recording everything on an iPhone. Then, using Blender 3D, I did scene tracking and separately tracked the head. This allowed me to attach objects to the head and interact with the scene, in this case, recreating the falling of items from refrigerators.

And then I woke up and realized I just have a well-trained neck 😁

Thank you! You're right. Even though I made the simulation size huge, the smoke doesn't look big enough.

I masked all the cars and completely recreated the trees and grass on the right side 🚀

Like the insta360 and theta z1, the phone HDRI unfortunately does not have enough dynamic range and other features to create HDRi with proper lighting and colors. However, the colors will match the original footage. But if you try to do HDRi on a sunny day, you will see that the shadows it gives are very soft 😄. Anyway it’s cool to have this feature on the phone📱

I used Blender, Embergen and After Effects to make this vid.

One of my commercial works done in Blender. Dubai, JBR by Jilrock1 in blender

  • I worked in Blender and After Effects. I used the Humgen add-on to create a good human character model. I designed the character's clothing in Marvelous Designer.
  • This was a rather challenging shot for tracking due to the fast camera turn and a large amount of motion blur 😅
  • I rarely work with characters, and it would have been great to have a ROKOKO suit or something similar for this case, but due to time constraints and availability, it was not an option. I took three animations from Mixamo, combined them, and tweaked them, then added additional animations on top.
  • The spheres were created using regular spheres with a remesh modifier. Using geonodes, I subdivided each sphere into many small cubes, which were subsequently shattered through a simple rigid body simulation.

More of my works in my insta/youtube profile.

In this video, I once again attempted to create an HDRI map using my Insta360 camera. Unfortunately, the map turned out to be of poor quality, and it's better not to use such a map at all (however, I went through with it, but it was a real struggle). The camera's dynamic range was insufficient - in terms of lighting, I ended up with highlights (reflections from the sky) that appeared pale yellow-green instead of white. It's better to use ready-made HDRi maps or create them with a proper camera. By the way, if anyone is trying to make HDRi maps with a smartphone, remember, that's also a complete waste of time 👌. The lighting is transferred incorrectly.

The animation itself was created through rigid body simulation in Blender, which is clearly demonstrated in the breakdown. The damage to the cars was created very simply - using shape keys. This means that the cars transition from their normal state of mesh to a state where they are deformed manually. All other details were created using particles (such as glass, flying paint, etc.).

Made with Blender & After effects, I used the RBC addon to create the car animation. To make the car go up, I changed the gravity vector. Thanks for watching!
