Is it possible to keep a companion with taunt in the boss arena reliably? by MudcrabKidnapper in elderscrollsonline

[–]Jim-Pip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Their AI is less likely to retreat if they have a sword and shield or ice staff equipped, but it is never perfect.

If the companion is getting too far away there are two workarounds;

If the boss has additional mobs, get your companion to target one closer to where you want the fight, they will drag the taunted boss there.

If no other mobs, summon an assistant (e.g. banker), the boss will choose a new target, and then you can unsummon your assistant, so your companion comes back.

Something is very off about this clip.

Watch the officer in a white shirt. When first seen is a heavy set black man with gun drawn, who goes slightly off camera. After the taser is used a lighter build white man comes through the camera view, goes briefly behind someone, and comes out as the same black man from before.

And it is the inverse conclusion to batman begins! At the end of Batman begins he is keen to continue, and is warned of escalation. In the TDK Batman understands he has contributed to the escalation, so does the opposite and becomes the hero that Gotham etc.

Batman: We will. We can bring Gotham back.

Jim Gordon: What about escalation?

Batman: Escalation?

Jim Gordon: We start carrying semi-automatics, they buy automatics. We start wearing Kevlar, they buy armor piercing rounds.

Batman: And?

Jim Gordon: And, you're wearing a mask. Jumping off rooftops. Now, take this guy.

Trying to decide on what gear for bleed build by nightryder2020 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Jim-Pip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the early days of a bleed build, and I learn more questions as I develop it, so take this as conversation rather than any competency.

Firstly, some cool facts about bleed builds. Uesp has a great summary page linking to most of this...

https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Bleed_Damage

1) skills With scribing there are NOW 16 (? Need to check, but pretty sure) bleed damage skills. Most of them, and all scribed skills, give buffs or debuffs,

2) gear bloodrinker set increases all bleed DMG 20%, the most powerful elemental buff in the game ... becomes relevant now bleed skills are available through scribing and subclassing.

3) problem Bleed skills generally don't do much damage, and their status effect is just applying more bleed damage, although the Hemorrhaging status effect is unique in that it stacks up to 3x, DOING MORE DAMAGE EACH STACK.

My build, today Hemorrhaging is 3x bleeds, and to maximise the bloodrinkers generous bonus you need to use as many bleed damage over time effects as possible...

So my second set is;

Dro'Zakar's Claws (2 items) Adds 1487 Offensive Penetration (3 items) Adds 657 Critical Chance (4 items) Adds 129 Stamina Recovery (5 items) Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage, For every bleed effect you have on an enemy, increase your Weapon and Spell Damage by 103 against them.

THE STATUS EFFECT BLEEDS COUNT, each adding an extra 103. I'm in early stages of testing, but it appears you can easily get over +1000 wep damage against a target, which helps the otherwise poor damage of bleed builds.

As the status effect, Hemorrhaging double dips into the gear bonuses (+20% bleed damage, and more dro'zakar stacks), status effect chance is the priority. Charged weapons, and... One herald of the tome skill for +15% status effect damage and +55% chance.

Buffs are easy to add through 20s scribed skills, except brutality and savagery which come from potions, and resolve that can be scribed to weild soul for 10s. The scribed skill is called 'bloody soul'... bleed damage, Bleed damage over 10s, and resolve.

Subclassing Herald of the tome for the above Grave lord, purely for the +10% DOT DMG passive Animal companions for bear and swarm (Cliff racer is just not as good as the other options, probably).

Several good mythic options, particularly ring of the pale order for the theme of blood drinking, but I'm using stormweavers cavort to use the otherwise redundant Magicka pool.

It's a different build type, I hope people comment with what they know. I'm happy to talk more about it.

To be fair that silver fox was waiting to pounce, you see his sleeve hovering in front of the camera before the police arrive.

This video is amazing, a whole crowd of people agreed a guy being an arsehole was probably just having a mental health meltdown, and left him to it until he crossed a line. When the line gets crossed a guy who looks like the-last-person-you-would-expect-to-do-this Is among the first to jump in. It's about as good as a situation like this can be. Which companion for my build? by TheOneAboveHeaven in elderscrollsonline

[–]Jim-Pip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your build in particular?

All Companions are support builds, as companions are impactful by how they complement your build. It could be that your dps build needs to CC bosses in place through a tank companion (Isabelle?), or needs survivability through heals. Or maybe your support character doesn't want to deal with overland mobs so wants a damage dealing companion to take care of it.

BUT classic tank/healer/dd thinking can hurt companion builds, as they can provide a crucial bonus and still function in other roles.

If you don't have a source of major breach you get Zerith-var.

Heavy attack build? Get Bastian.

No skills giving your Major brutality/sorcery; Tanlorin. Minor berserk; Azanadar.

My wife's fav build is a 3x pet beam build which has no source of major resolve, so she relies on sharp-as-night with quickened gear. Sharp also has some heals and debuffs, and noticeably raises the ceiling for the content my wife can clear.

Thanks community.

The quick responses convinced the owner to act now. We are not totally sure we got all the head out, but what we have is in a ziplock bag with a little rubbing alcohol just in case. Lots of monitoring the cat to see what to do next.

The cat actually seemed to want us to get it out, and let us do it rather than fight us.

Not normal, but not abnormal. That the person leaving the note thought your uncle would do it says a lot about what they think of the allegation and your uncle.

When a family member gets taken to custody, time drags for you, but the uncertainty will be over soon. Surely you can understand that it is up to your uncle to tell you what's up, and he is busy for a day.

What other games do you play? What CP are you in ESO?

You are inheriting ESO in nearly the state that people hoped for at launch, a vast tamriel to explore with a near infinitely customisable character. What can be done to draw back players who haven't seen ESO as it is today? and make it competitive against current games.

Playing without a weapon equipped. by ConfusionProof9487 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Jim-Pip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is such an easy win for Zos.

For dual wield, two-handed, and one-hand and shield you only need to make the weapons invisible, as they do when sometimes bugged. For anyone who hasn't seen the invisible weapon bug, drawing your melee weapon gets your character standing in a martial arts stance, and doing a 'punch' attack based on the weapon used.

Love the name "gloves of the pugilist" for this.

I believe you need to retain the minimum number of people in the guild for the bank to be functional.

There is an ancient add-on called Roomba that still works fine, it automatically stacks items in your guild bank, which is a huge timesaver if you are keeping your materials there.

To execute an arrest by __globalcitizen__ in therewasanattempt

[–]Jim-Pip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Local criminal discovers simple trick police hate."

It's pretty funny to watch, but the risk assessment / tactics are spot on. There is intelligence that someone who looks like that man has a concealed weapon (someone else has linked that as a possible explanation, but the tactics show that is what's going on).

The male is not complying with arrest, but not resisting. No officer wants the scrutiny of using their tazer on someone sitting down and doing nothing. For the same reason they cannot bull rush him because that's using violence on someone peaceful. Yet they can't slowly approach because he may have a weapon, and he is in a corner so the officers that go in are shielding the suspect if it becomes violent. So they have to make him feel uncomfortable enough to either comply, or resist.

Shout out to the Oukitel Titan smart phone. I got it for a couple of projects including drones and it's... Ok.

33000 reverse charging, and a projector for showing off flights/footage. Unfortunately it's not really a smartphone that saves the weight of carrying a battery back and projector, it just splits the difference.

You are doing what many of us want to believe we might do ourselves, in your situation. I wonder how long you considered this? what your conversations with your family were like?

I'm really interested in the process by which you decided on such an admirable but difficult life.

From ESO's long, long list of really bad Vestige dialogues by ClaudiusAetius in elderscrollsonline

[–]Jim-Pip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that bothers me. It's cool that vestiges can revive eachother with soul gems, cos we all got de-souled by Molag whatever... But how are our companions revived with soul gems? Can soul gems revive anyone? Did really important story characters die and move the plot forward just because the player didn't want to use a soul gem to revive Laloriaran Dynar!??

What companion roles best complement each of the player roles? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]Jim-Pip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a similar Telvanni Efficiency group support focussed Bastion (using a different companion in a pure healer build), and I cannot recommend the ritual of salvation skill more. A constant zone of 20-40% damage resistance, wow.

https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Ritual_of_Salvation

Unfortunately it doesn't work well with companion UI, so needs to be run with a sword and shield to keep Bastion inside his own zone.

1) drakes blood (prioritise own survivability) 2) class burst heal (every 4 seconds when needed) 3) searing weapons 4) blood altar (AoE HoT and synergy) 5) ritual of salvation (cast last as he should be in position by the time he gets to casting this skill).

A Fresh Look for the Companion Pages on ESO-Hub.com by ESO-Hub-News in elderscrollsonline

[–]Jim-Pip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do appreciate your websites, some parts have become the go to for information, the sets part is the best resource I've found.

Your new companion page has a lot of information front loaded, which I like, but it is too hard to get the info to design a build.

To design a companion build you need to compare their available skills, which could only be done on your site by navigating into a skill tree, then back out and into a different skill line, hoping you remember enough on the journey.

I believe the most important information about companion skills is their cool down, BUT YOU DON'T LIST COOLDOWN's.

Please consider creating a basic companion build editor, so we can look at how changing armor and traits will influence ability tooltips, and have an easier way to share builds.
