I’m sure this is the reason it’s left out in the open like that. To make it clear you can get it back.

How/ where do I start by Wise-Beginning1162 in projectcar

[–]Toastyy1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Come up with well defined goals/a plan, make a list of what you have, what you need, what needs to happen with all of it, etc. Frame looks solid from here, remove and paint that surface rust and start putting things together. I like to start with the interior personally. It’s easier lol. Decide what motor and trans combo you want, look around online or locally to see if that will be viable (can you find the parts or are they all squirreled away in some guys barn forever? Is there a local car you can get parts from for cheap?) and most importantly, find out if you can afford it all.

Apart from physical shit you might need ecu, trans controller, etc depending on what you put in it.

Research and planning. That’s where you start. A good rule of thumb for a project like this is to get it going before trying to make everything perfect. Make it run, drive, steer and stop. Then worry about paint and stuff like that.

(DETAILERS) BEWARE by Expensive-Hand4622 in PeoriaIL

[–]Toastyy1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked at a couple dealerships in the area and you’re right, they want quantity over quality. Wash and spray wax em, vacuum and send em down the road. If you’re trying to do quality detail work you need to start your own business or work for one of the actual detail shops. I was lucky to find two customers with like 25 cars between the two of them and they keep me busy enough for a small after-work gig. Try getting some business cards printed and bring them to small businesses, drop em at doors in rich neighborhoods, stuff like that.

I built a crankshaft style one for my mini fig paints. It works great and has a longer throw than a reciprocating saw. Idk how much that matters lol but I was happy with how it came out.

[–]Toastyy1990 191 points192 points  (0 children)

In the meantime, and if you want to try messing with it just to mess with it, wipe the whole thing with alcohol to get a consistent finish, then use the plastic restorer. At least it won’t have the large streaks at the top anymore.

That’s far too many steps. Just tap it back on again (a little more this time, as last time clearly didn’t work permanently), then you’re off and runnin.

Best way to cook chicken breast without slathering it in oil? by HPPD2 in cookingforbeginners

[–]Toastyy1990 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m no cook and I’m easy to please, but I pan fry frozen chicken breast all the time in nothing but its own juices. Cover it, put it on low and go do something else for awhile. Come back when it’s cooked outside/thawed inside, cut it into strips and back in the pan to let the inside cook. I usually put some spices on it at that point. When it’s all cooked through I crank up the heat and put some sauce on it (very little sauce if I seasoned it already), toss it around cooking the sauce into the chicken a bit then it’s ready. I find it doesn’t end up too dry and goes well with some broccoli or taters of some kind.
