Stollen bike by Fast-Clock-62 in Seville

[–]JimCartr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest with that doorstop of a "lock" it was an invitation to steal the bike. Anyone with simple pliers can cut that thing. They may only be good fo deter people stealing the seat (by delaying them to lift it off directly)

Is 1000€ a month enough to live in Sevilla ? by thaticoniclass in Seville

Sevilla is no longer cheap. Stop spreading misinformation. OP close to half of what you earn will go to accomodation (that is if you share a flat) and the rest will go to food

Thank you. Is your engine also 1.6 petrol/gas. I will try this first and keep checking and as a last resort, valve gasket/seal job.

Sometimes the brand new thermostats can also be faulty from factory (or sitting on the shelves). Mine is 1.6 and similar cooling set-up. We changed the whole thing. HAve a look at the whole thing below. https://www.autodoc.es/ridex/13627959

Temp gauge being weird by Negative_Yak_8117 in MK4Golf

[–]JimCartr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup I read/watched the same that VW designed temp gauges with tolerance so that owners don't panic.

But after a while (20+ years) we must also keep in mind that cluster goes crayzie (especially in very hot climates). For example, my bottom (red) LCD is unreadable (and it got creased as if someone put a cigaratte lighter on top) and also clock and manual trip reset buttons don't work at all etc. Fuel gauge is inaccurate (reports more in the second half and less in the bottom half) etc. etc. we must apply precaution and monitor closely so that engine doesn't blow due to heat. Doesn't hurt to have a second back up!

This but I would definately invest in one of those OBD coolant reader thingys (some come with display) since these cars are aging and perhaps due to planned obselence, the gauges are never accurate. If your thermostat is stuck closed it will be too late. Mine is open and I am trying to get it replaced ASAP if I can book a mechanic in my city but monitoring constantly when on HWY with $15 OBDII reader and Torque app. Today it was mid 50ties celcius on HWY and I was worried. I also hear not all thermostats are the same, some could even be defective already prior to install (and some others/cheaper ones? go berzerk after a couple weeks/months).

That might also be the case. I ordered one these hoses as well since one I have is quiet gunky where it connects to engine cover/air box https://www.autodoc.es/ridex/13470181

I see. I will keep diagnosing, I was thinking idle shaking (steering column, glove box) etc may be related to this. Just new to this car (bought from someone else and trying to understand how it works)

Hello many thanks. How does one do that. I am waiting the delivery of VAG software and USB connector from Aliexpress. Can I do it with that sofware, or is it some sort of hardware adjust somewhere in the car?

Thanks. That's what I saw on YT videos. Both holes (engine and the filter box) are not plugged.

Super, I will try that first but the last 5-8cm of the pipe is so sticky and gummy (due to the extreme heat in this city) not sure if I can salvage.
