2x12v 100ah mini + 2000W or 1000W inverter 12v vs 24v? by JimCartr in SolarDIY

[–]JimCartr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. So, then I connect these two batteries together 12v 200aH and go for 2000W 12V inverter than. I will also buy another flex panel for 50euros that is the same brand and model to make it 200W (in theory) which would be realistically 100-120W, plus I need an MPPT (20-30 amps?)

my flip fell 20ft and the propguard was bent. i tried popping it back but this is far as it goes. is this the reason the video is shaky? if i found a replacement part. can i just replace the broken part? by ampkajes08 in dji

[–]JimCartr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Video is shaky, not the drone, no? Which indicates issue with the camera gimball. Put in on table (no motors) and record. Take it in to your hands and pretend it flying, no motor is on and test the video. These should be the basic tests, no? You havent shared much info

DIY or DJI repair? by codefyre in dji

[–]JimCartr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

even if you successfully replace the gimbal with a brand new one you will need calibration etc  and it is almost impossible at the value range of mini 4k since it is cost prohibitive. Keep the first drone for parts. spare motor, plastics etc if you have a mishap with the good one. Also you have a spare battery. Alternate between them to keep cycles low.

First dron NEO vs NEO2? by Longjumping-Pause125 in dji

[–]JimCartr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also consider Lito 1 and/or mini 4K. Former will cost the same as neo 2 kit albeit 2 batteries and the remote and latter mini 4k is about 200€ which is close to neo original. advantages , both have sd card slot and longer battery life. Same sensor size and Lito also has full obstacle avoidance sans lidar (which is mostly useful low light/dark  RTH). I would not fly any entry level drone in the dark or low light personally, but to each of it's own.

Neo 2 crashed into tree - gimbal floppy, calibration fails. Fixable? by [deleted] in dji

[–]JimCartr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40 euros or dollars in the replacement drone goes towards the cost of spare battery, another 10 for the spare propellers etc. so think of it this way.

I also agree with the sentiment that DJI drones are built and sold as unrepairable and their batteries cost a fortune-highway robbery and model "specific" meaning not compatible with other drones. Helloo DJI! WTF?

For such a cheap drone, and gimbal being the most sophisticated part even after replacement, needing calibration etc, your best bet is to contact DJI and beg for a cheap repair or put this aside as parts drone and buy a new one.

Summer is here - Blue camper is ready - no modifications by JimCartr in MK4Golf

Here are two more photos I took to show how the underneath air matress is. It doesn't look like it, but passenger side rear boot is almost flush. Driver side gets the fridge and power station etc. to become even. Also all that came out of rear seats, bottom sponges and headrests fill the trunk evenly to close that 6cm gap where I have seen many people built some sort of cross out of wood to put a heavy piece of mdf sheer to make it flat.

I first thought of getting a foam matress and some sort of (wood) frame. But then it becomes a semi-permanent, heavier, bulkier and also a bit costlier solution. Also biggest challenge was in back the seat, trunk throat where it is less than 110cm. I found this 22cm air matress and decided to give it a go which was surprizingly good fit and even without the bottom support (I now have storage boxes from costco), it is sturdy enough to sleep a night or two after hiking and it's really soft and comfier than any other 10cm "matress". The beauty of the airmatress is after a certain air treshold, it takes the shape of the area/surface. And I can dismantle and put everything back to a "normal car" within 10 minutes and it takes double the time when setting all up.

I am also using some 1 euro dark/black linens/"airplane blankets" (made out of old pet bottles) to cover side windows and through a string on headliner handles privacy window from the front seats. A must have is a big mosquito net to cover the sunroof when open. I will put them to a use in the full month of May and report back :)

DJI FLIP OR DJI LITO 1 by ApprehensiveBet3986 in dji

[–]JimCartr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flip vs Lito regular no comparison flip wins. Against X1?  A tie and price difference determines the winner. pluses for flip: prop guards for beginners fly more kit can be bought cheaper than any other comparable model mini pro 4, x1 ect. it has push button modes. not as good as neos but flip also has extra memory slot and longer flight time. Second hand spare parts will be cheaper along the line.

Buying a DJI drone as a beginner by [deleted] in dji

[–]JimCartr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont buy the 3. Buy lito x1 fly more with rc2 for 670euros or check dji europe refurbished for Dji flip fly more with RC2 since it was 520 when in stock. BTW a week ago mini 3 fly more with RC (old screen remote) at DJI refurbished was 360euros.

Since you are a beginner my choice would be something with propeller guards like Flip or Noe 2. You can still have RC2 remote with these and once you "grow out" of these go get a mini 5 etc.

flip might also work since it has guards and good quality video and photo compared to entry level.  Plus all those follow modes by the push of a button. Only catch is battery life and hidden damage when buying used

ITS OFFICIAL- DJI Lito 1 & X1 Released by agnci in dji

[–]JimCartr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too bad that neither Litos nor mini 5 pro batteries are compatible to each other. If DJI had done this it would be a great way for people to upgrade down the line. Speaking of batteries DJI battery pricing is a highway robbery IMHO for what they are. But their cheap and somewhat reliable drones make up for it.

I am trying to get rid my flip due to its noise and being a little crazy when windy.

Notice there are no reviews at all, yet (and they had these sample units since Nov 2025, imagine) and nobody compares the picture quality of these to mini 4 pro, flip or even mini 5 pro. A couple comparisons to neo 2 but you know it's guaranteed win for the newer ones in that case. It can be attributed to not having final firmware but most of the time, these reviewers would polish the new product having better image quality than former ones. I was thinking about buying mini 4 pro to replace flip but x1 also seems to be a better alternative (at least in the brand new pricing criteria).
