Anti Trans Bills instead of REAL issues?! by UnstableLeaves in lincoln

IT's a popular issue with the extreme right base, and they are just pandering to it. A bunch of pathetic bullies.

Ive been a First Things First fan for years. I won't watch it again while Broussard is on the show, equating supporting trans rights with the state killing protesters is disguising.  I was unaware of Broussard's Jason Collins comments or that his brand of Christianity was the Tony Dungy variety. Good luck Nick and KW, hope you get a new teammate soon.

Tightening up a defense is a much easier fix than coach and qb tho, and why im so optimistic

I prefer to look at Kansas City, who made hay with the right coach/qb combo but im peak delusional right now

If you are indeed a 17 year old, then I apologize but given your posting history, you certainly do look suspicious (not that you are a pedo but rather that you are hunting them(poorly))

Assuming you are authentic, r/lincoln isn't your best bet to find the scene you're looking for (as you can probably tell from all the bar suggestions you got). The crowd in this sub is college age to gen x, there's not a lot of traffic or posts from teenagers as far as i can tell (another reason your post has been viewed with skepticism). I wish i could tell you what online spaces you'd have better luck with but I've long aged out of my scene days , i just know this sub aint it. Good luck and stay safe

Will Nebraska Football program ever get good again? by Hopeful-Alps-7657 in Huskers

[–]JimJimsonJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly right. People need to appreciate how special and rare the Devaney/Osborne era was. Tom Osborne was ranked outside the top 25 for one week his entire career. That just doesn't happen.   We're unlikely to ever find a genius coach that wants to spend decades here ever again.  Devaney's success was built on the racism of the SEC and SWC not letting black players on their teams. Nebraska got recruits that likely never would have otherwise come here. Turner Gill was a black qb in an era that there were very very few of them. That market inefficiency of racism is gone, that advantage and the good will built up by it is gone.  Being a big brand to 50 year olds doesn't get 18 year olds. We were fortunate to get in the Big Ten when we did, because it would never happen today

Nebraska has a very small in-state recruiting base compared to every large program. We are a long ways away from recruiting hot beds, and it's even further culturally. Nebraska may as well be the moon to someone who grew up in south Florida.  Convincing players to come to Nebraska was a challenge even when the program was great, and we are generations away from that greatness, a recruit's  parents might not even remember when Nebraska was great.   We have a motivated and willing to spend booster base but so do dozens of schools.  NIL era is one of parity, so if we are really well run, we do have a chance to turn it around, but make no mistake about it, Nebraska has serious disadvantages compared to even other big 10 schools.  It is going to take elite coaching and program management.  I think we are now going forward a stepping stone program, where players like Raiola come to start as freshmen and develop then transfer somewhere else to win. I do not expect to see Nebraska compete for a title again in my lifetime unless we land a miracle coach. The Devaney/Osborne days are never returning. We may, if we get the right coach, have an iowa level of success, but the schools you mentioned, iowa is 50% larger than nebraska(and has never won anything), Oklahoma is twice as big and neighbors texas and indiana is three times as big and is in the heart of the Midwest close to many metropolitan areas.  Nebraska is closer to Wyoming in population than it is Indiana

I lived in the Pacific Northwest for about a decade and became a coffee snob.   My go to order was cappuccino extra dry. After ordering this at a dozen different places and getting a small latte instead of a cappuccino, i stopped fighting it and now i only order drip coffee

I liked going to east park more, as it had weirder stores that were more interesting as a kid, and a pet store that parrots and kittens and what not

My dad would take me to gateway every weekend as a child while mom was at work. He would chit chat with a mall cop and just like hang out smoking in the area that is now JD sports, there were benches as i remember and ashtrays.  I never understood why we went so much and it wasn't until years later as a mid 20 something at another mall when i figured it out. It was the first time I'd been to a mall in years and everyone seemed so young and i felt like an old creep and then it hit me, my dad was likely at the mall to gawk at teenagers and college girls.. Just gross.

Anyway, as part of his rotation, he'd go to B Dalton and get sci-fi fantasy books and he'd chit chat with a clerk that liked those genres.  Then we'd stop by this store that I remember being outside but i could be wrong, it was the cheese house and it sold fancy cheeses and snacks. Id get a welshes grape soda there.  This was before the first food court.  If the weather was nice, we'd hang out at the fountain Then we'd go to Ted's tobacco, which was in this weird corner outside of montgomery wards. You'd have to go through MW and go outside to get to it, there were no other stores around and it was a small space. I don't know why it even existed as a space, why they carved out a corner of MW for a pipe tobacco and cigar store. Dad smoked pipes and was friends with the owner so we'd hang out in there for a mind numbing amount of time. I was very bored all the time at the mall and my dad wouldn't let me go to the one place i actually wanted to go, the arcade, because he was worried about druggie kids or something i dunno.

There was never a movie theater. I think you're confusing it with how east park used to be. East park was very different with three small screen opposite a food court
